Oh, how I wish I could make it very clear to you that your presence in their lives is of immeasurable value, so that you would never doubt it for a minute! I am a grandmother (old enough to be a great grandmother, but that hasn't happened yet), so I am speaking from my own experience as well as looking back on the history of my friends. Those "things" never satisfy! When a newer model or version comes out, the old ones don't seem so attractive anymore ... and it goes on and on. But, when they are grown (and even before) your children will remember that you were there for them all the time! They will remember the kindness in your eyes, how attentively you listened to them, the wise things you taught them by word and example.

I know some women have to work and certainly "one size does not fit all," so I hesitate to state my opinion. But, I do look back on friends who were always buying their children things and others who couldn't afford to do so, and look at the difference in their children now and it is very clear to me that the THINGS didn't accomplish what the parents hoped. (And, actually ... those were stay-at-home moms. Obviously staying at home is not a silver bullet! Neither is a working mom a "bad mother." I know at least one who is SUPER.)

I just want to reassure you that not having all the THINGS that other people have is not detrimental to their development into wonderful adults.

    I'm rambling ... emoticon

Thanks for reading my blog and leaving an encouraging icon! I need all the encouragement I can get and I genuinely appreciate it!

OH ... I have to say that I admire you for choosing to stay at home with your children. There is no more valuable way to invest your time and energy. They will be grown and gone before you know it, and the older you get, the happier you will be for your investment!
