I love all living things: people, animals, and plants. I am an amateur herbalist, and love to cook with and use herbs for all sorts of things.

My weight gain has happened gradually, and I'm not starving myself to take it off. Exercise is key with me. As the grandmother of seven, I find that weight no longer bounces off like it once did. I actually wonder if I really should be the soft pillow my own grandmother was that made her hugs wonderful! Then I think about the health challenges that presents, and I get "real."

I'm now a Master Gardener, and live on a wooded two acre property, with loads of places for improvement. Trying to get better at planning: my meals, my garden, and my time.

My Goals:
To feel fit and healthy, and physically vital.

My Program:
EXERCISE!!!
Eating less desserts and more real food; eliminating processed foods.

Personal Information:
Born during WWII in a "Maternal Nursing Home" (an adjunct to the local hospital) in North Platte Nebraska, lived in several big cities ever since: San Diego, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. Moved from Dallas to Missouri in summer of 2014. Love growing herbs, singing, quilting, and crazy quilting. Grandmother of seven. Trying to increase my dependence on God, and to quit thinking I have all the answers.

Other Information:
I'm an avid reader. I read every day, and am currently also reading the Bible every morning, with a schedule to finish it in one year. This is the sixth or seventh time I've read on this schedule, and learn new things every time. It helps center me for the day's activities.

Hi, thanks for commenting on my Ava new kitten blog. My husband was the one who pushed for the kitten. He felt a lack since we lost our 13-year old kitty back in December. Maybe your husband will change his mind, eventually.

Hope you are enjoying the day. Happy Cinco de Mayo! We are having taco salad tonight.

My exercise has changed to walking dogs. I walk with my daughter and her two dogs. We stay 6 feet apart. She works in health care so she has to be there. She doesn’t come inside the house where we live. Our new house will be next door to her.

The rain has held off our new house basement starting. Today they say Thursday will be dry and they will start. They have everything ordered for the frame, siding, shingles, windows, and doors.

I hope your weather has been good.

Thank you for the flower goodie. That's quite a Navy family and a lot of history! BTW, it's aircraft carrier. It wasn't so much being brave when I joined the Navy but more of trying to escape the stereotypes of that day as to what occupations were available to women.

"Just a comment on International Respect for Chickens day... I have four or five friends that've started keeping chickens for their fresh eggs. These chickens become almost family pets."

Thanks for stopping by. My daughter moved last summer to a smaller town and they also started keeping chickens. It's been quite a learning experience for the grandsons and it's interesting to see the different colored eggs as they have different species. I just recently moved up here and now I also get fresh eggs. Can't beat it.
