After 2 children within 2 years I am ready to reclaim my body!

I am full-time nurse and mom that is trying to juggle it all (aren''t we all?!). I''m laid back, love life, and love nothing more than to get some good laughs in each day (including my own corny jokes!).

I started my journey with SparkPeople on January 3, 2010 and was able to get very close to reaching my goals. My ultimate goal has been to incorporate more healthy habits into my daily life for the overall health of my family and I. I am happy to say that I did do well with both of these thanks to support from this site. I have had a few set backs, over the years, but I keep coming back and the support here has been phenomenal to get me refocused.

It''s important to me that I get these habits solidified now as I want to be an example for my children as well. I hope that healthy choices just feel "normal" to them as they grow & develop. After all, now that I have kids it''s no longer just about ME..it''s now about WE.

My Goals:
My goal is to be realistic with myself, take things one step at a time so that I can obtain optimal health and tame this diabetes monster. I aim to get a little cardio in each day while focusing on my eating habits. I'm also learning about strength training and hope to make this a regular piece of my routine. My ultimate goal is creating a easily manageable lifestyle that is health-focused for my family & I . A slimmer frame would also be a bonus!


My Program:
My current focus is on a mostly plant based, whole foods diet. I ensure fresh fruits, veggies and whole foods are always in the house so that there's less temptation around to blow it! I make sure to eat small meals and snacks throughout the day so that I don't ever feel like gorging down the planet!



Personal Information:
I'm a social person and love interacting with others. I love to read, dance and play good old fashioned board games. I believe God has given me a great gift of a body that let's me enjoy the world and what it has to offer. Like any great gift I need to take care of it and show how grateful I am for it.

    I want to tell you a little bit about my recent history.
    I am a diabetic and I have been for many years. About 7 months ago I made up my mind to stop eating anything with sugar in it or that turned to sugar in my body. My goal was to keep my carbs under 30 to 20 grams a day and to get my A1C down from 8.0 to normal.

    On May 27th I saw my doctor and I got a message from him on May 29th telling me that he wanted to congratulate me on the enormous success demonstrated by my labs. You are no longer showing any evidence of diabetes, elevated liver enzymes, or elevated triglycerides. Your A1C is 5.0.

    I told you this to encourage you (not to brag) in hopes that it will help you, with whatever your health situation is.

    Hey! I fell off the wagon in October and put on the weight I lost unfortunately. I am back now and started the Weight Watchers program last week! I lost 4lbs my first week of following the program and am feeling motivated to really do it this time!
