Dear Friends of the Community, I am a Musician (Piano and Guitar) and I teach music to kids (mostly) for a living. After losing my Father to a heart attack in 2006, I had steadily gained weight as well as got really depressed due to this and to the aftermath of his death on another family member who impacted my life in a terribly negative way. When I learned about Spark People, from downloading it as a free "app" for my iphone, I decided to take myself in hand, and try disciplining myself for the first week by logging in all my calories. I'm on my second week now and it's a little challenging, but I'm glad there is a seemingly supportive community out there. I'm hoping this discipline will carry through to my own personal music practice as well.

My Goals:
I plan to be 135 lbs and physically fit by April 2010.
I plan to finish reading and doing the exercises in "Producing Music with Digital Performer" on my computer and music keyboard by the end of April and I plan to help my Mom find an Art Gallery whose dealer will love and sell her paintings.

My Program:
I'm food journaling every day, and I'm working out at every day at least 10 minutes. Part of this program is Water Aerobics 2 or 3 times per week. I've set myself the goal of working on my DP computer music program at least 3 hours a week.
I've helped Steven to finish working on Mom's website and tomorrow I'll begin helping her to draft a cover letter to email to various art galleries.

Personal Information:
I'm from New Haven County Connecticut and if you want to email me, I'm

Other Information:
My favorite movies are"Les Enfants du Paradis" and "Belle et la Bete" but I also love other old movies and some new ones. I really dug "It's Complicated" and "Avatar".
A quote from Daisaku Ikeda's Daily Guidance, for January 29th: " Practicing Buddhism means being victorious. In advancing one step at a time amid the realities of our daily lives,m in showing concrete actual proof, in becoming victors and successes, we are demonstrating with our very beings the validity of Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism and serving as a source of hope and inspiration for those who will follow us on the path of faith".

Thanks for stopping by. If you are referring to "DESIDERADA"... I first found it about ten years ago. Actually DH found it. Funny thing, this year I was doing SIL's genealogy and the author credited to this poem is from SIL's Dad's hometown.

Thanks for dropping in on my page! I live in Seoul now because my husband works for the U.S. government here. I'm from TX so heading there for a visit and a residency in Dallas for school. Shoes make a huge difference! Yet it is not super easy to find the perfect pair. I use to wear nothing but Nike but as I gained weight and more fragile, I haven't been able to find a great pair. Got my first Asics now after hearing multiple great reviews. I see you are on the Buddahism page. I am looking at spending a weekend at one of the temples in Seoul this year sometime. I'm not buddhist but look forward to learning more about them. Very closely related to the psychology theory I love most.

Thanks for your comment on the Jonathan Roche blog I shared in my own blogspace this morning -- I totally agree with you about the danger of using the term 'should' in a directive way. However, Jonathan's companion, the marathon runner, was using it in an encouraging way, as in "maybe give this a try yourself', not as a commandment. And if you read to the end of Jonathan's comments, you'd see that he clearly reinterprets the man's enthusiasm to suit the scale of anyone, even people like you and me with physical limitations! I think Jonathan is approaching 40 yrs of age or so; not sure!

All the best to you, and may every day be should-free and encouragement-full!
