I moved to Maui two years ago after 20 years of saying I was going to move to Maui one day :)

So this challenge to get back to my "fighting weight" should be a piece of cake, right?

I tried by myself to lose weight for several months with just tracking calories on Spark, adding in some exercise. At my age (56!!!) I needed more than that. So on July 2, 2017, I started intermittent fasting. First I did 5/2 (eating only 500 calories on the 2 days, Mondays and Thursdays) and within my target the other days. That helped some, the weight started coming off, but slowly. A month later, (Aug 2017) I switched to 4/3s, only taking vitamins and supplements (a good multivitamin, C, calcium, Maca, and Ashwaganda) on my fasting days, staying within my target calories on my "feasting" days, and am doing rebounding (minitrampoline) 20-40 min/day. For variety during the week, I also do some arm weights, a bit of yoga, and walking videos. Plus stand-up paddleboard. And I make a point to move every hour when I'm working M-F: either squats, HIIT for 5 min, walking for 2 songs, lunges, pushups, etc. This new program has made all the difference. I'm consistently losing nearly 2 pounds every week. It's not "easy" but it is simple. And I'm VERY close to my initial goal. Once I get there (in 8.6 pounds!!!) I'm going to see if I want to lose an additional 7. I found a photo of a gal in a bikini who's my body type in and height (5'5") who weighs 118, and she looks great and healthy. I may make that my new goal, but for now I'm very proud of where I am, how far I've come, my determination and all of my hard work. Mostly, I'm proud of keeping a promise to myself, honoring myself enough to do that.

My Goals:
Step on the sale and see something that begins with a 1 followed by a 2. By October 1, 2017. Piece of cake. Er ... rice cake.


My Program:
I'm currently doing the JUDD diet. One day reasonable eating, the next day a 500-600 calorie day, healthy choices. The idea is to ramp up your metabolism. Apparently, it's also great for disease prevention, anti-aging, longevity. Yep. I'll take it.



Personal Information:
I have two teenage sons. One is in college in Oregon, and the other lives with me on Maui.


Other Information:
I write for a living.
