Hi, My name is Rob & I started my journey in September with wife Marge & a group of exceptional people. When I started my journey I weighed in at an astounding 274.4 lbs. I was embarrassed and disgusted with myself. Since September I've lost 44 lbs total and am still on my way. I'm married to my lovely wife (Marge) who is on her own journey with me. We have 2 beautiful boys 5 yrs & 10 months old that are the joy of our life!

I little about me. I have been involved in FIRE/RESCUE/EMS since i was a freshman in highschool. Those expierences really shaped a lot of who I am today. I started at Levant Fire Department as a junior firefighter and have held officer postions of Lieutenant, Captian & Assistant Chief. In 1997 I met Marge at, you guessed it, the Fire Station. She was there helping with an EMT class and things blossomed from there. At that time I was a smoker but quit that habit in 1998. We got married in September of 1999 and in November of 1999 I embarked on the career path that I still hold.

I'm a 911 dispatcher for the Maine Department of Public Safety. I work in Orono and answer cellular 911 calls from 4 counties. I also dispatch State Police, Game Wardens, Marine Patrol, Fire Marshals to name a few. It's quite an interesting job but has it's moments. The one Big BIG problem is that for the past 9 years, I've sat at a desk for 8 to 16 hours a day and was not nearly as active as I had been. As you can guess, the pounds started packing on. In 2001, I joined weight watchers for the first time and was very successful. I lost over 50 lbs and made it under 200 lbs. Unfortunately, time passed and all the weight came back on.

In 2004, we were blessed with our first son & in 2008 our second arrived. They are the joy of our life. In September, Marge & I got accepted into a pilot program that the State offered. It is called ME FIRST and is attempting to get State employees, Retirees & spouses to make a lifestyle changes. We're doing weight watchers, time with a trainer at the gym and support groups.
Since I started I've lost 44 lbs after weighing in at 274.4. The journey now continues for me with ME FIRST & SPARK PEOPLE!!!!

My Goals:
My main goal is to change my lifestyle regarding how I eat & exercise. I'm doing this for myself, my wife & our two sons. I want them to have healthy eating & exercising habits.

My Program:
Since starting my program in September, I've faced a few challanges. I work an immense amount of hours during the week and that makes exercise a big challenge. One thing that I started doing was going to the University of Maine's Football Stadium after work and running up and down the steps. When Winter arrived I needed a new option & snow shoeing fit the bill. My program for exercise has been primarily outdoors & I've really enjoyed it.

Personal Information:
I hail from the State Of Maine and live in Bangor. Grew up in the town of Levant which is just west of Bangor. Have been involved in Fire/EMS since I was 14 Years old and loving it. Currently I'm a 911 Emergency Communications Specialist for the Consolidated Emergency Communications Bureau for the State of Maine. Basically that translates to: If you call 9-1-1 on a cell phone in the Penobscot - Piscataquis - Hancock or Washington County area, You might just end up talking to me.

Other Information:
I'm very committed to changing my lifestyle to better me & my family. I hope to get some Pictures of me up that show how big I was when I started to go down this road.

You might be a firefighter if the microwave goes off and you run out of the house thinking it was your pager. ~Author Unknown

    Hi Rob,
You've been pretty quiet lately. What's going on? Are you still sparking? Are you stalled? We'd love to hear from you again on the Jan. 25-31 cohort team boards.

Rob, I'm a little behind in reading the posts on my spark teams - I think I've joined too many but don't know which ones to give up. BUT, congratulations on being MOTW. Also, double congratulations for your weight loss so far. I enjoyed viewing your pictures, especially, "Like Father Like Son!" I wish you the best on your journey along with your wife.

Hey Rob, Thanks so much for the spa goodie and your support though my journey so far. I'm sure I'll still need support from you and the other spark teamers to keep the maintenance going. I'm looking forward to celebrating with you as you reach your goals, too. Thanks again.
