    You can still cook and eat family meals, just miss out the starchy vegetables, bread, cereal, cakes, cookies, rice, pasta etc. Eat plenty of veggies and berry fruits for low carb fibre and a small handful of unsalted mixed walnuts, brazils and almonds for healthy fats, vitamins & minerals. Keep chilled water in your fridge and a big glass of it with you often. I miss cold beers, so keep my water in old beer bottles, much more enjoyable when chilling out with friends and doesn't slow my fat-burning.

    As for your question, yes, you subtract fiber and sugar alcohol carbs from the total carb content. I wish you great success!
