Triathlon is where it is at! I am recovering slowly but surely from having my knees rebuilt. Someday I might be able to run again, but I can compete with race-walking!
I have lost over 115 pounds in the last three years. I ate beef all my life and I still love it, I just realize I cannot eat it all of the time.

I have conquered a pre- breast cancer disease and A Plastic Anemia in my life. I have had ankle , sinus and knee surgery but this "old" body is not worn out just yet! I finally have my triglycerides and cholesterol under control. I do have to take Lipitor...just have too much of my dad in me.
I am a very driven person and I try to inspire my students to become more active by teaching nutrition, health and exercise skills to them. I include them in my success at various competitions and keep them informed concerning my training, nutritional efforts and outcomes. I challenge them to challenge themselves...I am older than you but I can do triathlon...what can you do?
Since April of 2010 I have:
1. Completed my first sprint triathlon, the Just Tri it Triathlon for breast cancer in Chandler, Arizona.
2. Completed the Milkman Sprint Triathlon In Dexter, New Mexico. This was my first open water swim ever. I just started truly swimming in February.
3. Completed the Steelhead Sprint Triathlon in Sierra Vista, Arizona where I was 70th out of over 300 men and women.
4. Completed the Damn It Man Sprint Triathlon in T or C, New Mexico. I won the Athena Division!!!!
5. Will complete the Patriot Triathlon in Rio Rancho, New Mexico this weekend...the 12th of Sept., 2010.
6. Will complete the Elephant Man Triathlon in T or C, New Mexico on the 26th of Sept., 2010. This one I am doing as a relay...I AM the Bike!
7. Completed the Ft. Bayard Wilderness Run 5K. I won my division.
8. Completed the Ft. Bayard 5K for the local Puppy Dog Ranch. I won!
Actually, I win every time I compete simply because I am competing. I owe my success to a very special PA-C that believed I could do a triathlon and learn to swim, my swim coach and great friend that I drug into competing with me, and my cycling buddies Cindy and Tim...that have taught me more valuable lessons than I can ever repay.
AND I found Spark People and have lots of support from many friends going through the same journey!

My Goals:
I want to exercise at least 2 hours everyday of the week. On weekends I usually ride my bike for two to four hours. I would like to loose about 15 pounds and I will complete my first solo triathlon in April.
My Program:
I run on an elliptical machine due to having both knees recently rebuilt. I swim twice a day everyday of the week and once a day on weekends. I cycle at least 30 minutes everyday. I have changed my diet to mostly veggies and my meat intake is mostly fish.
Personal Information:
I was born and raised in Silver City, New Mexico. I still live in Silver and have for all but 8 years of my life. I teach at an alternative high school as well as WNMU. I just learned how to swim and my swim teacher is now riding and running and participating in triathlon with me.
Other Information:
I am married and have two great kids. I love animals and have three dogs and a cat currently (subject to change at a moments notice!).

I'm sorry you had to have another surgery.
I know you are strong and you have it in you to not only make a full recovery, but to lose any weight that may have crept back on. You have been and continue to be an inspiration to me.
(((hugs)))
