On my way to healthy
Hi, my name is Liz and I am working my way back to a healthy way of life. Having been overweight all of my adult life, I have decided that the now or never time has come. I am striving to be a better me in all ways and have fun in the process.

I've been very lax in my eating and exercise habits fo awhile now. I've gained back about 40 of the 60 pounds I had lost. I've had some physical problems, back and other things that have made it difficult to get moving again. But I am ready to go back at it as much as my health will allow at this point. I've dusted off my food scale, found the dreaded weight scale and have gotten rid of most of the junk food in the house. I feel like I've reached a now or never point in my life. I want to be healthy, I deserve to be healthy, I WILL get healthy and stay there.
I look forward to sharing my renewed journey with my spark friends.
Together we can do this, get healthy, live healthy, stay healthy.
UPDATE 1/14/2019
I ended 2018 on a sour note. In mid to end of August I started to have a backache. Not too bad so I did what
many of us do, I ignored it. As time went on it became more intense and was causing me to limp. Still ignored it, started using a cane I had from foot surgery years ago. In October I saw my PCP who referred me to ortho, who referred me to a pain specialist. Somewhere along the line one of them referred me to physical therapy. PT helped some then my insurance company decided that I’d had enough PT & stopped paying. I was sick and tired of the runaround I was getting so I went back to my PCP the beginning of the year & explained I was no better. Where do I go from here?
She referred me to a spinal specialist who I am seeing Friday.
I’m really fed up with being so inactive. I’ve been doing the exercises PT recommended religiously but it didn’t helping me. But I refuse to give up. Somewhere, someone will be able to help me. I just know it!
So I’m hoping and praying that 2019 turns around for the better very soon.
UPDATE 9/17/19
Well, I’ve seen a pain specialist, had injections in my back, a nerve ablation in my back & 2 back surgeries & still only minimal relief of my back pain. The frustration I feel is unbelievable. My last surgery was July 30th & still haven’t had any PT. I’m seeing my surgeon in 2 to see where I go from here. Still trying to be optimistic but my hope is wearing thin.

My Goals:
My goal is to get moving again. Last year I tore 2 tendons in my foot which led to surgery in June 2015. A long recovery led me to much inactivity. While I still have to be careful, it's time for me to move again!
My Program:
I am learning that I like/love exercise along with counting calories and using portion control.
Personal Information:
i'm approaching the BIG
6-0 this summer. A good time to reevaluate where I am in my life.
Other Information:
i am a huge dog lover. My last fur baby passed about 2 1/2 years ago and there has been an empty space in my heart since then. My hubby & myself are avid campers, enjoying the great outdoors. I love to read... Pretty much anything I get my hands on.
