I'm glad your girls did well at L2L. :) It's always such a pleasure to see your child learning how to serve God. :)
Yeah, I know it's not about winning. That's what I always liked best about LTC. The kids aren't competing against themselves, but against a standard of excellence. Both programs are excellent, but my kids do respond better to bringing home the plaque with each medal on it for the work of a whole year. My oldest was the only one to do L2L for 3 years. But he was beginning to become discouraged at working so hard all year, and having nothing to show for it. Some kids thrive on that kind of competition. My son was becoming discouraged, and less inclined to participate.
Congratulations to the two finalist boys. Good for them! :)
I don't have the papers with me here at work that list the kids' medals. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Older Puppet Team=gold, Chorus=silver, Malachi speech=gold, Malachi & Madeline Signing for the Deaf=both gold, Daniel Song Leading=silver, Daniel Speech=gold. Daniel's Bible Bowl individual=Silver, Daniel's Bible Bowl Team=Bronze. I was rather pleased with the sign language and Older Puppet Team, because those I taught. I taught Chorus also, but I'm not sure why we only got a silver. :/ The kids sang well and with enthusiasm. That's all I can ask for. :) They truly enjoyed it. I love to teach kids who enjoy singing. :)
I wish we would have our LTC before or after Spring Break. But no. I think we've had that happen once. :/ This year, our SB is really late. Next week. I think we have 3 weeks of school after that? Crazy.
Sometime, we will go see some Nashville stuff. It's only 3 hours away, so not too far. When we used to go to L2L, we sometimes stopped at places on the way up there. Franklin has a lot of historica stuff. We toured Carter House there. We wanted to tour Carnton Plantation, but it was closed when we went. We always enjoyed staying at the Opryland Hotel, but I do really enjoy the smaller crowd in Mobile. It was always so stressful to find the right room of Daniel's events. It truly would have been crazy this year. As it was, it was very stressful even at Mobile. For individual events (speech, song leading, etc), I had 3 kids in 3 different rooms at the same time. I didn't want to miss anyone's stuff. So, I'd go and throw myself on the mercy of the judges to move one kid to the top of the list, one at the bottom, and one in the middle. It was rather frantic. Next year, I will be back down to 2 kids--still a little stressful, but nowhere near as bad as 3. LOL. But I sure enjoyed seeing all 3 of my kids singing together in chorus.

Hi girl! So glad to hear from ya! :) I know what it's like to be busy. I have 3 very busy kids ;)
I'm so sorry to hear about your gran. Sometimes a nursing home is the only option. But I'm sorry your uncle moved her away. I know she must have loved the day with you and your family and the ice cream. :)
How did your girls do at L2L? I thought about y'all when we were in Mobile at LTC. :) Our tax return paid for our trip. It's the only vacation we really go on also. (This year being a bit of an exception with Texas and Gatlinburg.) But we always spend Good Friday on the beach at Gulf Shores before Bible Bowl on Friday night. I was really pleased with how all of our church's kids did at LTC. And Malachi (his first year at LTC) was chosen to give his speech at the Closing Ceremonies. I couldn't have been prouder. :)
How very cool that you and your daughter get to do The Wizard of OZ together! I love Momma/Daughter stuff! :)
Madeline & I are headed to Notre Dame, Indiana for baton/dance National Competition in July. She is sooooo excited! We are doing some serious fundraising! That will be an expensive trip, and we will be there for 5 days!
It was good to hear from you. ((hugs!)) 3196 days ago
