Fitness Minutes: 100

My Goals:
Oh to be disease resistant, combat depression and gain a healthy perspective on life. I've lost 61 lbs and hope to lose about 20 more to get into that ideal range Dr. Fuhrman talks about. As a 5' 4" tall woman, being around 120 lbs would put me there, but I would also love to have less than an inch of abdominal fat to promote great heart health. I would also like to develop an exercise regimen which would be sustainable for me.

My Program:
I'm closely following Dr. Joel Fuhrman's recommendations from his book Eat To Live.

Personal Information:
I live with my family in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. My husband and I have been married for 31 years and have four children and three beautiful grandchildren.

Other Information:
My husband and I started making the transition to a plant-strong diet about 2 years ago. Our two children, who are still at home, have been somewhat resistant but great sports about it all. I think the last few months I've seen a stronger shift in understanding of health and how this will benefit them. Our rule has been healthy food at home, but if they go to a party they can have what is served if they so desire. It's been encouraging to watch them occasionally refuse what is offered, simply because of how the food made them feel or because they were aware it was bad for them. Not always, but occasionally. Baby steps are exciting though!
