Within the past 3 years I have gained 20lbs. I was in a serious motorcycle accident in May 2004 and the combination of pain, inactivity and depression has contributed to the weight gain. I turned to snacks, mostly Peanut M&Ms for comfort. Peanuts are a healthy fat, right?
I am trying to get myself in a better place. I am 55 years old and have taken up kayaking for upper body strength, cardio and just plain enjoyment. I am also using gardening for exercise and therapy. I love to do anything outside.

May 20, 2006. I have been serious about counting calories, tracking my food and drinking my h2o. I have now lost 4 pounds! 16 to go. Sounds so much easier than 20!
May 31, 2006. 2 more pounds lost!
14 to go and then I may set a new goal weight.
Well, I've slacked off a bit. It's now October and I'm at 126. I would like to lose 12 more pounds, but it may take a while. I have increasing pain in my ankle which limits my activity and exercise. I am vowing to eat less to compensate.
At least I'm not gaining and in the past 6 months, I have lost 10 pounds. Slow going, but the right direction.

I give credit to this site and the tools available. I try to use them all especially the Food Tracker.

March, 2007 update: I have been in a cast for the past 2 months from surgery to have my ankle fused. I am trying so hard to get relief from the pain from my broken ankle and get my life back.
Well, I am still in considerable pain, but I pray that it is temporary. I have another month in a cast, but the next one will be a walking cast, so I will be more mobile. Since Jan, I have been in a wheelchair or used crutches. It's been a long winter.

October 2007 update: I haven't updated this page in 6 months. I am still in constant pain with my ankle. I am now trying acupuncture, laser and more PT. I cannot believe or accept that I won't get better. It's been 9 months since my last surgery and I don't see any relief yet. Maybe it needs more time.

I'm still struggling with losing the weight I have put on these last 3 yrs. I'm getting more active; yoga, balance ball, pilates and kayaking. I just need to say NO to chocolate! But, it's my friend. LOL

Update April 2008. February 2008 my hubby and I joined WW. After 9 weeks, I have lost 13 pounds! Doing it together and going to the meetings has been the key for us. Of course I has the basics from Spark and use the Fitness tools a lot. There are great exercise videos and demos here that anyone can do from home. I have not been to the gym in over a year because of surgery and just plain PAIN, but I have still exercised with DVDs and Spark demos.

    Just stopping by to let you know I am still alive not very good on the Spark anymore how ever. I have drifted away and get here only once in a while I should get my act together and lose like I did in the beginning but because of the spark and what I learned here i am a little lighter then I used to be!!Hope you are well and happy and having a great Holiday Season!!XO Ginger emoticon
