Well, here I am again. Is this my 3rd try, 4th, 5th? Don't know … lost track. I still have no idea who I am looking at when I look in the mirror. Personally, I think someone is playing tricks on me. But, no. This is who I became. I grew up in a dysfunctional family … married the wrong men … suffered from severe depression … lost my Dad way too soon … and have lost both my older sister and my Mom (the 2 in my family who caused me a lot of emotional pain) in the past few years. I spent the last 3 1/2 years taking care of ME … a number of surgeries to correct physical issues and I've been going to counseling for my depression and got myself a little dog a year ago … the last 2 have helped me greatly! Asked my doctor late last winter about getting help for my weight and she sent me to the local hospital's Weight Management Office. I started seeing them the end of February at the weight of 282 and have been gearing up for bariatric surgery. I've passed all the health tests. One of the goals was to lose 10% of my original weight in 6 months (before surgery), which would have been 28 pounds. So far, I'm down 44 lbs! If I can keep this up on my own, I'm seriously reconsidering the surgery! As long as I can continue going to Weight Management for classes/information and weigh-ins. But, at 61, I'm soon ready to retire and want to be healthier to enjoy the things I never got to do when I was younger because I was busy raising 3 children.

My Goals:
#1 - lose 10% of my weight (28 lbs) (June 2018)
#2 - get under 240 lbs (9/5/2018)
#3 - get under 220 lbs
#4 - get under 200 lbs
#5 - get under 180 lbs
#6 - get under 160 lbs
#7 - get under 150 lbs
#8 - get under 140 lbs
#9 - if possible, get under 130 lbs

Would LOVE to get down to 125 lbs, but, moreso, want to be happy and healthy.

My Program:
I learned a lot going through the classes at Weight Management. I'm eating better (more protein and less carbs), eating less and little to no snacking … or making better choices to snack on. I've also finally cut out all sodas (even though I only drank diet sodas). And, building up exercising. I spent the summer swimming almost every other day (hoping to join the Y soon to use the pool … so much easier on my arthritic joints) and walking my little dog. When I first started out, I couldn't walk to the end of the block without major pain in my lower back (arthritis). But, since starting to drop the weight and exercising in the pool, the pain is so much less. Haven't been walking every day due to high humidity, but every week we've been going further and further. Today we were up to going around 8 blocks. I want to be able to start riding my bike, too.

Personal Information:
I was born and raised, and still live in south central PA. I would love to some day move close to the beach (looking at Delaware … my childhood beaches … or VA or NC) ... but if I don't start taking care of myself NOW, I won't be healthy enough to enjoy it.

Other Information:
I love, love, love the beach! I have a growing collection of seashells. Love to swim, play tennis, ride my bike, as well as other outdoor stuff. Love camping and playing games. I also enjoy doing a lot of different crafts ... sewing, quilting, needlework, polymer clay, plastic canvas, and so on. I also love to dabble in photography. And, I love animals. I recently bought myself a Cricut and have been cutting vinyl stickers for cars and making a lot of t-shirts for my family.
