I have been a member of Spark People since March of 2010. My commitment level has varied from day/week/month, but I have continued the journey. I know that losing the weight is just part of the equation. Every day is about making better choices than the day before, and choosing the healthiest option available. Also, trying to find the balance and keep it all in moderation.

I wish I could say 2018 was a successful year on my personal journey, but it wasn't. I played with the same 15 pounds all year. Up 4 down 3, you get the drift...so getting back to basics in 2019 and doing the things I know work for me.

I joined the 2019 Winter 5% Challenge. I'm looking forward to getting to know my new teammates, and the feeling of accountability I get when on a challenge team. I commit to at least 30 minutes of exercise daily, and will split it between walking, swimming, and strength training. I will be eating a modified Mediterranean diet that my nutritionist designed specifically for me. I will participate to the best of my ability on the LTGL portion of the 5% Challenge, and I will post my points daily to my team. I will also interact with teammates through their blog posts and Spark pages.

I hit my initial goal weight in early 2011, and then revised it to the middle of my normal BMI. I was within 9 pounds of the revised goal, when I had some injuries that side-lined me. Replaced some old unhealthy habits with some new unhealthy habits, and packed on the pounds over the next year. Then came 2013. I was exercising like a fiend, burning at least 4000 calories per week in cardio alone, and staying within calorie range. The weight just kept piling on. After my doctor ran a bunch of tests, an auto-immune disease was diagnosed. I worked with a nutritionist, my doctor referred me to, for a few months to help with a manageable eating plan. I am committed to getting back on track by eating healthier, living a more active lifestyle, and regular exercise. So my mantra is "One choice at a time." I can do this!!!

My name is Margie ( hard g) I was born and raised in Montana. My husband was in the military so I have lived in several states throughout the years, we were in Southern CA from 1991 until Sept. 2016, and moved to Idaho in time for there worst winter! Settled here now, making friends, enjoying life :-)

    Thanks for the goodie. We had one fairly hot week here in North Dakota, but today the temps dropped to the mid 80s, even so I've enjoyed some long, quiet walks with just the birds and gophers for company.

    I'm guessing that life is too busy for you to be sparking, but I wanted to check in and say hello to a fellow Idahoan. We've been back up north since early June, but will soon be visiting our home in North Dakota for several weeks. It seems to be hot enough where ever we go. emoticon emoticon
