SUZWARNR
Hey thanks for all your comments. In regards to the 5K, this is the first one where I didn't go all out in the beginning. Usually, I am spent by the end of the race. I mean, I was tired at the end of this one, but not exhausted. As far as eating goes, I'm not dieting but I also don't keep a log of what I do eat. The night before the race I had spaghetti with pasta sauce. The morning of, I just had a banana a couple hours before. I run mostly in the mornings and I don't usually eat anything at all before I run. You seem to know a lot about running. I'm sure you've been running a lot longer than me. I've learned a lot though and I'm still learning more. Thanks for all the advice! 3579 days ago
So, you should definitely just be my triathlon coach...
Anyhow, thank you the advice about my training last week. You're right I should have just eased up on the swimming & focused on the other two sports. I will try to incorporate more interval training on my runs too, I used to do it all the time when I was training for HM but when I switched back to tri training I gave it up. Still not seeing much improvement in biking which is the most frustrating part by far for me. I know that it probably has something to do with equipment too but I'm just not getting any faster & right now I feel like I'm on my bike all the time. Do you recommend more bike time? I have not yet tried the bike intervals that you suggested so maybe I could give that a shot, problem I am running into is finding actual places to bike without traffic or other hazards. Realistically I am aiming to reach like 16 mph by 6/18/11, is that possible? Keep in mind though that I will be renting a newer fancier bike for the event. I know that probably sounds like snail speed to someone like you but really I am looking to finish at just a respectable pace, middle of the pack. 3579 days ago
I wear a heart rate monitor every time I work out so my calorie burn is as accurate as that machine. As for my size, I am about 215 lbs, so I've got about 60 pounds on you.
I try to be as careful as possible to not overtrain or push myself too hard...I usually only have a workout like that twice a week...excluding my swims.
Very impressive PRs...I would love to be able to finish my Olympic tri in the time it took you. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am still relatively new to the sport. 3597 days ago
