Hello! Schi here (pronounced 'ski'... whoosh whoosh)... 50, pagan, living in Scotland with my 3 cats and loving it. Earning a reputation as a 'cat lady'. The only thing missing is the 'mad' in front of 'cat lady', but I haven't given up yet. :-)

This is the newest page for me on the web, but I also have... (pictures, mostly) (pics & blog)

and, which is the most telling about me as a person.

I enjoy photography, writing, soapmaking (though I haven't done it in a while), anything to do with essential oils and herbs, cooking and reading. I enjoy dancing and travel as well, but those are two things I've been unable to do in a while.

My weight problems didn't really start until the run-up to my hysterectomy in '89. I was in so much pain that I couldn't walk and was on medications 4 times a day, ALL of which required me to eat with them. Naturally, no movement and 4 meals a day added some weight, and for the first time since I was 17 I weighed more than 8st 3lbs/115lbs, and that was with having 2 children.

You know how when you spay an animal they put on weight? Well, that's me. After my hysterectomy I was up and around again, but whereas before staying the same weight wasn't an issue, now it was. I took off what I could and settled at 8st 13lbs/125lbs, which I actually liked better because I could go into a store and buy clothes that fit me properly.

Then there was a car accident (not my fault) and whiplash and the enforced inactivity started again. I fluctuated between the weight I liked and an additional 10lbs, and the struggle had started. Next came a very destructive marriage and clinical depression. More weight gain. After that, divorce and more weight gain. Then I dated a guy who ate candy constantly (and of course, I developed a sweet tooth) and MORE weight gain. The last blow was fibromyalgia, with more pain and more inactivity, and here I am at 14+st/200lbs.

Well, it has to stop. I don't like the way I feel in my skin... it doesn't fit me anymore, and I want to be comfortable in my body again. So, here I am.

My Goals:
I need to lose a lot of weight and to do that I need to keep track of what I eat. Every little morsel. Every tidbit. Every... arrrrgggggggghhhhhhhh.

This is the first proper diet I''ve ever been on.

My Program:
Logging on to Spark every day and faithfully keeping track of what I eat. Walking more. And when I lose a couple of stone I''m going to quit smoking... that way if I put weight back on I still won''t need to buy new clothes! :-)

I''m attempting to follow the Scottish Slimmers diet plan and though I can''t afford to attend the meetings, it''s pretty simple and the recipes are delicious and filling, both things I want in a diet!

Personal Information:
I''m dealing with depression and fibromyalgia so I sleep a lot, hence the nickname ''Mrs.Dormouse'', plus I have IBS, an underactive thyroid, agoraphobia (fear of leaving a safe place), scopophobia (fear of being looked at) and anthropophobia (fear of people) (yes, I know... I''m falling apart). I call Scotland home.... it''s the most beautiful country in the world. (Well, possibly next to New Zealand.)

Other Information:
I love cooking and food, so it''s important to me that any diet has food that I like. How else will I stick to it for the rest of my life? It''s going to take some getting used to since I can no longer eat what I want when I want without paying the price.
