I am here on my journey to a healthier lifestyle and weight. I believe in a positive attitude and that believing that you can is half the battle. I have given up the "all or nothing" mentality that for so long held me back. I am not following a diet plan or style, I have tried many of them and find for me I don't do well feeling that food is good or bad or that I can't have it. I am going to eat the foods I have always loved but focus on increasing the healthier choices and limiting and planning for the less healthy choices. I am lucky that my diet has always been rich in fruits and veggies, leans proteins and whole grains. I've never been an eat out of the box, fast food or sugar junkie so I have that all working for me. I have portion control issues and problems with emotional binge eating. I am going to practice my portion control and stop my binge eating. Moderation in all. No more deprivation. I love the Spark community and all the inspiration and encouragement that is found here. That is why I am here. I hope to inspire and encourage whenever I can. We are all on a journey, no two journeys will be alike. Take the steps that are right for you and believe in yourself. What works for me might not work for you and vice versa, neither way is wrong, only you know what is right for yourself. Be true to yourself and believe in yourself.

My Goals:
is to reach a weight of 170lbs and then to see how I feel and to go from there.

My Program:
healthy meals and snacks limiting processed foods and excess sugars. aiming for ten servings of fruits and vegetables daily. no food is bad but some are only occasionals no more binging because I ate the 'wrong' food.

    emoticon I know binge eating is difficult. I had my issue with eating at 3 a.m. and it wasn't until I found an endocrinologist who put me on Metformin and some other medications that I was able to stop and stay on a food plan. I'm down 50# and have kept it off. I know sparks doesn't promote medication, but it was what I needed. My blood sugar went from 115 to 100 (diabetes starts at 126). I recommend seeing a good doctor. I took Prozac when I started peri-menopause and it just made me fee normal and not like I was down in a hole.

    Depends on which part you hit. Most of the leaves will of dropped off the trees. Especially in the central and northern areas. Even here in Southern Maine, they are now almost past peak, but there's SO MUCH to do here!!

    If in Southern Maine, SHOPPING is huge, especially in the Kittery, Portland, Freeport areas. Also a TON of walking area's, no matter where you go in the state. If you like to do water things, I'd check for local ferries, many run year round, and some are still doing tours, DRESS WARM!!

    I live in the Greater Portland area. The Old Port is a tourist area, for sure. Good buys, mostly local, NO big boxed stores allowed!! THANKFULLY!!! Many love to do lighthouse sights, and if in in the Portland area, do a search on their locations. I am near Bug Light and also Portland Head Light. Pretty area for sure.

    If north of Augusta, Bar Harbor is so pretty, but many of the small towns are too, and I prefer the smaller areas for just getting a real flavor of our life. If you have the choice there are many Airbnbs. ENJOY your visit to our state!!! We SHOULDN'T Get snow that early, but last year proved us WRONG.
