January 11, 2020 - Day 1 of the Winter 5% Challenge

I'm up-dating my exercise program in the fields below.

Member Since: 1/21/2013

Fitness Minutes: 44,428

My Goals:
I want to stay healthy, mobile, and lean for the rest of my life.
I'd like to follow "The Younger Next Year" advice including 60 minutes of exercise 6 days a week for the rest of my life.
Return to the healthy weight I maintained in my 40s, now that I've hit my 60s.
Continue to run/walk, and exercise with intensity.

My Program:
January 11, 2020 Update.
Exercise has to be my priority.
1. Jog outdoors 3 days a week for 30 minutes.
2. Jog/run on the treadmill for 30 minutes once a week.
3. Cross train by swimming, rowing, or biking once a week.
4. Use Essentrics videos at least twice a week, working toward making it a DAILY habit.
5. Monitor my fitness levels using heart rate,

1. Make a conscious effort to increase water intake. Eight glasses is hard for me.
2. Reduce alcohol consumption.
3. Monitor trigger foods closely, follow Low fodmap guidelines.
4. Eat a Mediterranean diet as much as possible.

1. Weigh-in weekly, Saturdays for 2020 Winter 5% Challenge Community.
2. Post exercise, LTGL goals every day.

Personal Information:
My DH and I are retired. Both of us were reared on family farms, so we love open space and quiet whenever possible. We are able to travel between those two farms, as well as to winter in the Southwest for health reasons.

Other Information:
I love baking, cooking, and eating. So aside from a sweet tooth, I cook from scratch and have a relatively healthful diet. I enjoy sewing, crocheting, and am teaching myself to knit. As a person on faith, I believe it's important to care for ourselves, others, and our planet.

    thanks for stopping by the blog. when you read beck (the beck diet solution - how to think like a thin person) things are put in perspective. by analyzing your discomfort (pain) level from none to the worst you can imagine, you see that hunger is fairly low on the scale. by planning your day so your calories are spread where you need them, you can pretty much make it from one meal to the next. and by doing the exercise of skipping one meal and analyzing what you are feeling, it becomes apparent that a) you'll survive and b) you can distract yourself (barring health reasons) and c) you may even get past your hunger and can easily wait until the next meal. it's one tool in the toolbox.
