Fall seven times - stand up eight.

I'm a 60 year old mom of a daughter and a son; both grown and married. My husband of over 40 years and I live in Montreal, Quebec.

I started this weight loss journey in 2006 when I was teetering on the brink of 200lbs. At 5'4" and with a small frame, that was NOT GOOD. I felt (and looked) pretty awful.

A couple of things happened. First, my doctor was after me to lose some weight and suggested I try Weight Watchers. Then our son became engaged to be married. The wedding date was in August 2007. I certainly didn't want to be "the fat mother of the groom" - Vanity has to be good for something!

Somehow it was time. Weight Watcher's helped me reach 135 pounds by our son's wedding. In the six months that followed, the weight started to creep back. Clearly I was not making a good transition to maintenance, and now our daughter was getting married in May 2008.

In March 2008, my sister told me about Spark People and I've been an addicted "Sparkie" ever since. The site has helped to make even better choices in my diet and lifestyle and reach my final goal weight of 120-125. Now I hope it will help me stay here.

It's been over a year since I joined SP. My weight has bounced up and down a few times, but now I feel I have the tools and support to stay on track.

UPDATE Feb 2010:
After a year of ups and downs, I am about to become a grandmother for the first time. For this new chapter in my life, it is time once again to take stock and get on track so that I can have the health and energy to keep up with my grandchild.

UPDATE March 2016:
I'm back after a break. SparkPeople helps me in so many ways to keep healthy and fit and to have energy for my four grandchildren.

Get that waistline back to healthy range

My Program:
Tracking food intake (portion control!) and trying hard to balance calories, protein, healthy fats, and carbs.

Drink 8+ glasses of water per day.

Incorporate some exercise into each and every day.
