NikNakPattyMac, Give the Frog a Loan . . .
8/2016: Eight or nine years ago, I was very active on SP. Thinking about SP recently and thought I'd check it out to see how things have changed. Interesting that y'all have ads now. It was bound to happen. Still a great resource and social networking website.

My bike is still my main source of enjoyment for activities, but now I'm enjoying the winter time hiking and snow shoeing, too.
First, let me tell anyone who reads this, that Sparkpeople has been a great place for me since I joined. No, like many others, I'm not here every day and I don't support others the way I really should. But there is a sense of accountability for me here. Even though no one is "missing" me when I'm gone. Someone still welcomes me back with helpful supportive words of encouragement. You guys are always here. Thanks for that.
Since eating well and training for my summer bike tours, I got away from eating the veggies I need and started focusing on calories only. Then I got busy and stopped the 6 days a week workouts and they turned in to maybe once or twice. Finally, after three months, the weight all of a sudden appeared on the scales...I'd gained 5 pounds from my low.
With SP help and my renewed commitment I will beef up my training and start eating correctly again. Thanks SP.
8/2008: My most enjoyable times are spent riding my bicycle (recumbent). It will be hard for me to keep up with all the information required to enter and exchange with this website because any time spent in front of my computer is time away from riding--as I see it. But, I really need help to keep up with the strength training, aerobics, and flexibility. Especially in the summer--again, when time in the gym takes away from time outdoors riding. But, I have to make a commitment to myself. Hopefully I can find a team here that will make me feel accountable. Hope I can give back to others, too.

My Goals:
Nov 2011: As i said before--more veggies, fruits; less fats, starch, and sugar; and much, much less sodium.
Dec 2010: Ditto to what I wrote in August 2008...
August 2008: I gotta eat more vegies and fruits. I gotta eat a whole lot less fats, starches, and sugars. I gotta allow some joy to enter here. I gotta avoid diabetes and stroke as long a possible.
My Program:
Nov 2011: Aerobics, strength, yoga.... aerobics, strength, yoga......6 days a week! My mantra for the end of this year!
Dec 2010: Most everything still applies as it did the day I joined SP, except the intentions have become almost habits at this point.
August 2008: I like to ride my bike, a lot! But, unfortunately, most of my program to this point centers around intentions. I read about healthy eating, but that isn't working. Guess I gotta actually put it into practice.......wow, who knew? ;-)
Personal Information:
Born: Smack dab in the middle of the baby boom. That tells you about everything there is to know. I'm the stereotypical Boomer. Pretty much the same values and history. Two great twenty-something sons and a patient husband of 30 years.
Other Information:
A movie that changed my life: "Gladiator"
Best movies ever made: "Overboard" and "Cap'n Ron"
