"Do or Do Not, There Is No Try" Yoda
Hi and welcome. My name is Nina. I'm 33 years old, I've been married to a WONDERFUL man for 11 years and I have a 5 y/o little boy who is the light of my life.
Growing up I was always the thin one. I never once thought I was fat and I never thought about dieting. In 1999 I got my first desk job, ended up having my appendix out and hut my back.
Before I knew it I was packing on the pounds. By the time I got married in December 2000 I had gained 100 pounds. Even after I hit 250 pounds I never really saw myself as "fat". Yeah I started going to the gym and lost a few pounds here and there, but I can honestly say that my heart was never fully in it. I guess you could say I was comfortable with life.
In May 2006 my son was born. I had a very easy pregnancy, well besides being sick as a dog for the first 4 months. I never craved much of anything and most days I had to force myself to eat. I only gained 14 pounds my whole pregnancy and after my son was born I lost 18 :). My husband and I decided that it would be best for me to try and stay home for the first of my son's life. At first I thought this was going to be easy!! What mother wouldn't want to stay home with their new baby? Well then reality set in. Living in Arizona you really can't take a newborn out in the summer heat. I was pretty much stuck in the house all day, every day. I got tired of cleaning the house and doing laundry. I was depressed and ended up eating WAY too much. I lasted 6 months at being a stay at home mom and I finally had to tell my husband that I WANTED to go back to work. By the time I got back to work I was tipping the scale at 275 pounds and I knew I had to do something about it.
**The Journey**
I have tried so many different "diets" it's not even funny. The biggest thing I've learned from them is I CAN'T DIET. I have to change my way of life or I'm going to fail no matter what.
**Advice**
My advice to anyone who is reading my page is to find something that's right for YOU. As you can see I've almost tried it all. Just because something works for your friend doesn't mean it's going to work for you too. And remember that your extra weight is not going to come off over night and you may not lose it in places you want first. But it will come off with hard work. You are going to stumble and fall flat on your face, we all do. But the best thing is to get up, dust yourself off and keep trying
