Couldn't do it on my own. Snacking getting the better of me! Mostly need the accountability to "encourage" me to control my eating and get my workouts done.

June 3, 2019
Got busy with a lot of stuff and wasn't focusing on my Healthy Me book. I'm back to work on another chapter but going solo for a while.

Back to the gym and the whole foods. Going to try to do better logging my food. I need a reality check on how much I'm eating.

January 1st 2019

Ready to have a great year. This chapter in my Healthy Me book is going to be a great one. It will begin with a new group of great people as a Resolute Renegade in BLC 39. My goals are to reduce my body fat% and BMI and keep my happy outlook on life strong.

I will focus on strength training and whole foods to fuel for my body and gardening, time outdoors, quality personal relationships & learning to fuel my mind. I'll throw in some quality sleep and water to keep the chapter flowing.

Strength Training - Planet Fitness (weight machines), Spotebi at home workouts, mini loop band workouts. I do better with variety to avoid boredom.

Whole Foods - lots of smoothies and salads, veggies sides and healthy proteins with a few not so "whole foods" because I'm far from a perfect eater and I do better without rigidity!

Gardening - In Central Texas we can grow almost year round. Between the greenhouse, starting seeds indoors and lots of plants already "chillin" in the garden beds I hope to grow a lot of our own veggies, fruit and herbs. I also have almost 2 dozen chickens so we get fresh eggs every day.

Time Outdoors - In addition to gardening & chicken tending, I love playing with my dogs in the yard or sitting by the fire pit admiring life. Away from the homestead I enjoy tennis regularly, walking frequently, hiking occasionally and swimming when it's hot outside.

Personal Relationships - I'm in love with Andy. We live happily and simply and enjoy spending time together, talking and being active. Mom is my best friend and lives very close by. We talk and get together often. Brother (and his family) and my dad are not too much farther away and we all keep in touch and share things often as well. Close friends are few but valuable!

Learning - I'm always reading, and trying new ideas related to my interests and passions. Currently, I have been learning more about herbs (medicinal and edible) and improving my gardening skills to increase my harvest. Last year one of my focuses (continuing into this year) has been preserving my harvests. My biggest case study has been looking inward and trying to figure out what works and doesn't in regard to keeping the weight off and staying pain free. A couple years ago I unknowingly damaged my knees doing Barre workouts. I spend a few months in therapy and learning what was healing me and how to do it on my own. I've been able to rehabilitate my injury and subsequent ones and look to go into 2019 stronger than I have been in a while. I will continue to learn what works an proper form and techniques to stay healthy and get stronger as the year progresses.

I would love to have you along as a supporter and teacher. As we all can learn from one another and get further when we do it together.

Let's make this chapter is a long one.

I have been a regular at the gym for a while now. My self rehab is going well. When I started I could manage 15 minutes on the exercise bike but now I can do a full hour workout on the treadmill with decent speed and elevation without soreness or pain following. Need to bring the ST back into the picture. I have a plan just need to implement! lol My famous last words.

At the beginning of November I did two 9 day smoothie challenges. (Green Smoothie Girl). Level 2. I had great success. It kick started my weight loss and helped reduce and almost eliminate my craving for sweets and "bad" carbs. I drank two smoothies a day. Since I already drink one most days I started drinking two. They are meant to replace meals. I do the first for breakfast but substitute the 2nd for my snacks and munching when I get home after work. Have been adding new to my smoothie ingredients and want to reduce the amount of fruit eventually. I usually have a veggie loaded salad with protein for lunch. Then a small dinner late evening.

My diet, aka food, is mostly whole foods. This has been easier with the additional smoothie instead of "snacks". I have a garden where I try to grow some of our food. We eat eggs from our chickens and I do lots of fresh produce protein, veggies, herbs, nuts & seeds and the like mixed in.

I am joining BLC’s Winter Break Challenge to warm up and get back into the BLC in January.

Time to step up the healthy habits and get back to a healthier weight (& me)!

Update July 23rd 2018 - Slipped off into the Abyss!

Gained way too much. You would think it would have helped me float back to the top but not so much! lol

Last time I weighed I was 170+. It's been 25+ years since I've been this high. Will be a slow road as the hindrances of age have locked in tight on my abilities to lose weight but I will not let it deter me.

Went back to the gym. Been a few weeks. At least I'm still staying active. Gardening and tennis mostly. Tho it's too hot at the present to be playing tennis.

Need to sideline my sweet tooth and (unhealthy) carbs addictions and get more veggies and proteins and healthy fats back into my diet.

No promises on how I'll do this as I've outlined in the past - just making one good decision at a time and passing on the undesirables one at a time.

Been busy busy busy - as always! Life is going well just. Andy is doing great (needs to lose a few too - I slip - he slips! lol) Garden is doing great and so are the chickens and doggies.

Reach out if you want to get in touch or chat or catch up.

My word of the year is Flourish. I will find success and flourish in all my efforts this year.

My Motto to lead me in to 2018. (Adapted from a magazine ad! - lol)
Cook Well
Eat Well
Move Well
Be Well

I have a new Trendsetter Happy Planner and have made a few custom pages to help me stay on track.

I'm starting my year participating in the Fed & Fit Project (Path B that is 90 days) and starts on the 8th of January. On the 18th I'll start a 6 week program with 100 Days of Real Food. I've also signed up for Diane Sanfilippo's 21 Day Sugar Detox. It starts on the 8th and runs for 28 days. I need this. I ate way too much sugar over the last couple months! lol

Here's a quick update on me for those that are interested....

Coming out of Maintenance mode to lose about 5 pounds. Probably more after the holidays!

I have been having trouble with my knees and it's put a damper on enjoying my physical activity and overall comfort even when sitting, sleeping and getting up out of a chair! But... I grimace and keep going. -- UPDATE: My self therapy is working and I'm having a lot less trouble with my knees. Still find it uncomfortable going up and down stairs but all else has improved immensely.

My food choices haven't changed much (that's a good thing) and I'm happy for that. Smoothie for breakfast M-F and lots of veggies and proteins and healthy fats throughout the day. I could forgot the sweets but that's always been a battle so I maintain the "all things in moderation" so I don't over do it. And I'm good with drinking lots of water.

I have renewed my membership at Planet Fitness and go there most days before work. Tennis as usual on Tuesdays and Thursdays will all help me with my fitness. When it's warm enough) Not to mention all the work I do in the yard...

Still gardening, in fact, I've been building, filling and planting a new garden. I'll share more soon. (Looking forward to spring planting).

I have a new job (started in June 2017) working for the management company/owners of 27 Johnny Carinos locations. Accounts Payable Specialist at the Restaurant Support Center. Loving it for many reasons.

I have 14 chickens. One is a rooster but is more timid than most of the others! lol Nellie has gone to a better place leaving Bosco but we couldn't leave him lonely so we got a new dog. They are best buddies! Dexter is his name. He's a mix but you can tell part is German Shepard.

Looking forward to meeting new Ninjas and rekindling friendships! Let's have a great BLC 36 and a fabulous 2018!

My Goals:
Stay healthy and moving!

My Program:
Summed up pretty well above.
Exercise daily. Could be at the gym, on the court, or in the yard, etc.
Eat real foods most of the time. Have one of my smoothies daily. Great way to have lots of plant based nutrients.
Sleep (6+ hours) required for my body and mind to operate optimally.
Lots of water.
Happiness in my heart and soul or else none of the above is enjoyable.

Personal Information:
I'm a mom to two sweet dogs, who drive me crazy!
A happy Chicken Farmer. My flock is currently 6 growing chicks plus 20 layers (all on holiday! lol) and 1 rooster! They are a blast!l
I'm a mediocre Gardener but love trying. I like have lots of edible things growing all around the homestead.
In October I started a new job (still an accounts payable specialist) at a new place (HHS in Dripping Springs, Texas) and loving everything about it. Including their gym, healthy cafe and awesome location.
I Love being outdoors. Homesteading (gardinging, chickens). Hiking, biking, tennis, camping...)

Thanks for the Goodie and message, Erin. Yeah, it will be fun to have some old friends join my team this round. Please note, there's a lot less chat on this thread than the Ninjas and that was the #1 reason I joined them, honestly. I actually had all the chat threads open so I could see who had the least number of posts and that's who I went with. emoticon

So, what I'm trying to say in my long-winded way is thank you. I'm glad you're on my team but I don't do a lot of chit chat there so I just wanted to let you know.

Have a great rest of the day and Erin? Happy New Year! Here's to a wonderful 2019 on our healthy journey together. emoticon
