I love how daily exercise makes me feel. I love how stretching helps me feel more centered, pliable and resilient. And as much as I love the taste of some foods, I recognize that some of these same foods are not loved by my body...they trigger insane urges for more and / or leave me feeling bloated, uncomfortable and sap my energy.

I see at the age of 55 that there will never be a good and easy time to make health and fitness a priority. I am taking a stand now, today, for my health and this time I'm going deeper to root through the underlying causes of the 20 pounds I keep swinging up and down.

My Goals:
Develop and nurture practices that will enable me to achieve and sustain health goals for the rest of my life:

Lose 10-15 pounds (I'll know the number when I feel good in my body) and keep them off

Balance daily exercise, stretching and meditation to keep my heart healthy and grounded, my body limber and my mind centered

Understand the triggers behind self-sabotage and overcome them

Step out of my comfort zone with courage and humility - challenge myself mentally, creatively, emotionally, physically

Learn to be more intuitive on when to be kind and gentle with myself and when to be fierce

Be grateful, always

My Program:
1. Track food with discipline - stay within guidelines 5 out of 7 days

2. Exercise daily and alternate between cardio and strength exercises (yoga and kickboxing)!

3. Walk to work 3 times / week

4. Cook / prepare 80% (or 17 / 21 meals)

5. Keep a regular journal (3 times / week)

Personal Information:
55 years old

Divorced with 2 adult children

Living near Boston, Massachusetts

Swing within a 20 pound range for most of my adult life

I do not always have the capacity to verbalize what I feel deep inside my heart. Therefore, I have cultivated the habit of saving quotations which have touched me. Recently I came across this and I would like to share it with my friends.

Every day is a new day -
a day for new beginnings, new dreams, new action -
a day for challenge, adventure, and discovery.
    TODAY, what is your goal?
    What is your dream?
What action are you taking to further your goals and dreams? emoticon
