I am a 63-year-old (update: 70 in March 2019) female with a myriad of health issues, many of which will be vastly improved with a healthier lifestyle. I am keenly interested in using the nutrition tracker to develop a balanced food plan for myself in spite of my multiple food allergies. Additional allergies I deal with include MCS - Multiple Chemical Sensitivities along with Environmental Allergies.

Glad to be here!

=======================
Added 09 Mar 2013 - I recently found my framed version of the following which I read daily in the 1970's. Time to remind myself of this daily:

The Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble,
it's a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

    Loved your comment on the "indulgence" blog -- yeah, poverty mindset may have been "necessary" when items beyond bare necessities were really not affordable but it delivers a powerful message when engrained as "you don't deserve it" . . .

    I am wondering about the iodine too. I also wonder about how table salt is processed. What chemicals are used during the processing?

    I have an iodine supplement (liquid iosol iodine) that I use on occasion. I use it when intuitively guided to do so.

    I know my thyroid needs iodine to function properly. Did I get enough iodine growing up? I imagine that I did because my mother did used some processed foods which tend to be salt laden.

    I've seen the same (low) scale weight for 4 days in a row now, which is an unusual experience for me. The daily scale weight tends to bounce around quite a bit. I've also been seeing very tight weight fluctuations recently too … another unusual experience for me. I hope these are good signs.

    Thanks for your thoughtful comment!nSuch a shame the dinners changed so much, though I can see it was much easier for your very busy mother and back then they thought it was a healthy alternative that made life easier. Yep I remember fish sticks, but I never liked them. I also remember Stouffer's frozen food well as a child of the 70s and 80s. When babysitters came or when mom was too busy, we got the frozen fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Often the frozen spinach soufflé was made as a side with dinner and it was so good I wanted the whole thing to myself. Back then we didn't know all the problems with plastics, processing and preservatives.
