As a teen and through my twenties, I never gave a thought to what I ate. I was thin, fit and very active. I hiked, backpacked, bicycled, folk danced and jogged. I loved the outdoors and enjoyed good health. I had my first child at age 29. After each pregnancy (3 children, 5 miscarriages), I gained weight back to the highest weight during my pregnancy. After my childbearing years, I realized I was continuing to gain weight every year. Every time I tried to increase my activity level, I had an injury that threw me for a loop, and led to a more and more sedentary lifestyle--and more weight gain. I didn't think I could change my diet, and felt hopeless to change. When the scales passed 300 lbs. last year I realized I had to do something if I wanted to live my life to the fullest and change the end of the story. In September, 2012, I started walking daily, and in January, 2013 I also began to change my eating habits. I am happy to report that I've dropped over 25 pounds since my highest weight! I am thinking maybe I CAN do this! Maybe I won't die fat!!

Update: As of May, 2 I have lost over 60 pounds. I am amazed and humbled and appreciate the prayers and encouragement of my friends, and this website!

Update: As of January 10, 2014 (my one year anniversary at Spark People), I have lost 120 pounds. Only 33 pounds to go :) !

Update: As of January 10, 2015 (my two year anniversay), I have lost 140 pounds, and gained back 5 over Christmas :( 15 pounds to go.!

Update: As of August 10, 2016 I have gained back 55 pounds.

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
