Hi everyone, I am Pamela Joy ( PJ ), I am 55 I have been on sparkpeople 5 years . I love this site, the people and it has GREAT TOOLS TO HELP KEEP US ON TRACK. Hi everyone, I am Pamela Joy ( PJ ), I am 55 I have been on sparkpeople 5 years . I love this site, the people and it has GREAT TOOLS TO HELP KEEP US ON TRACK. This past year was another one with more health challenges. This past summer in my spin class I had an episode of Supra ventricular Tachycardia my heart rate went soaring over 200 and my heart felt like it was going to burst out of my throat. In Sept I underwent a procedure 'ablation' attempt that was unsuccessful for this issue. 2 days later I had a blood clot in my right femoral vein and was hospitalized for 5 days for blood thinners. I haven't felt quite myself 'since' but I am working towards that. My weight has gone from a low of 174 back to 184 and that has frustrated me but I know when I feel like ' ME ' again and can get into the routine of working out and my normal energy levels I can get the weight moving off again. I have been off the blood thinners for just over a month now and still requiring a lot of sleep. I know that this is a journey of health and not a destination and work at being patient with myself daily . I have continued to ride my bicycle most days. My challenge for myself this year will continue to be to strengthen my upper body and core , and to keep my legs strong. So I will be doing lots of push ups , planks, side planks and so on. I went on a 26 mile bike ride this week by myself that was a lot of fun! I am looking at ways to challenge myself to stay fit and keep it fun and interesting and injury free.
At this time I am not looking at ' knee replacement' as something I am having any time soon. I was diagnosed with familial dystonia this year as well and started on Carb/levodopa , a drug often given to parkinson's patients. I have had this disorder my entire life just got a name for it and some hope! I started taking a new adaptogen herb this week Rhodiola which has helped me sleep without any dystonia symptoms for the last 3 nights and I feel very happy and strong! Lets hope that continues!
