50+ years and it's always been about putting other people's needs first. What a plethora of knowledge I've accumulated. I can organize just about anything - except myself. I've been so busy making sure everyone in my family had what they needed I forgot that I'm a part of that family too. I never sat down long enough to consider what my needs were. So how do you figure out what you need? Well, a look in the mirror, an honest assessment of how I let my body go to, well you know where... Then there's the numbers: blood pressure, blood sugar, and the dreaded "scale!" Discussing those with my doctor was a real eye opener - with a not so cheery prognosis. So what do I NEED and what do I WANT? I NEED to get my health in check...lower my blood pressure, get my eating under control so I don't end up with Type 2 Diabetes, lower that number on the scale so my ankles/knees/hips aren't taking such a beating everyday. I WANT to be able to sit in a movie theater seat with the armrest down, fasten the passenger seat belt without choking myself, walk up the steps without having to catch my breath....but most of all I WANT to be around to live those "golden" years with my family. And I've taken those first steps: I've cleaned out my snack cabinet here at work. I refuse to by processed junk food at the store any more....I'm planning meals with foods that are good for me - I've got a long journey in front of me, but it feels good to be moving.....

My Program:
Renew my committment to live a healthier lifestyle.
My plan of attack:

Eliminating "white" from my diet.

Trying hard to eat more fruits and vegetables

Stay away from overly processess foods.

Start moving more and sitting less

Buy a dress for my daughter's wedding in April 2014 that doesn't resemble a tent.
