My husband and I love to do outdoor type things - hiking, bike riding, kayaking, etc. I have 60 pounds to lose. I have been making an effort in that direction for the last several years. I lost twenty pounds and it has slowly come back on as life has gotten in the way. I am making a renewed effort and getting off to a slow start! I'm hoping to find the motivation to keep going with Spark People!
UPDATE: March 4th, 2009. I have been with Sparkpeople for five months now and I have lost a clothing size. The scale, however, isn't moving - must be all the muscle I'm gaining! LOL I'm hanging in here! It's working just not as quickly as I would like. I have to quit eating out so often if I want the scale to tip in my favor!!

Here is a little gem I found on SP:
Do you worry about what is going to happen in the future, or have sad regrets about the past? Take today to just concentrate on the present. It’s great to learn from the past and to plan for the future, but what is happening right now is what really matters. The past has come and gone and the future holds no guarantees. Today is the most important day. So begin each day with a plan. What do you want to accomplish today? Workout? Eat healthy? Play with your kids? Daily, small goals will help you in the long run achieve your dreams. Concentrate on the “now”.

I can see that this isn't going to happen. I'm happy to lose slower as long as I am making improvements in my fitness level. And I am!

I am wanting to increase my energy levels. Lose weight as a result of being active, eating healthy and making good choices.


My Program:
I am trying to eat low fat, low sugar and high protein. Not too hard since I eat pretty well anyway, I just eat too large a portion! I am walking and going to the gym. Keeping track of it all on this site helps me see where I am!

."I eat grilled chicken, grilled tilapia, lots of vegetables. No fried foods, no white anything. Drink lots of water. Eat to live, not live to eat. Small portions throughout the day."
