Ever since I started to grow curves, which began when I was 11 years old, I have felt uncomfortable in my own skin. In grades 7 and 8 all of my friends were shorter than 5'3 and as thin as insects. I towered over them at 5'6 and I felt like my ass was three of theirs put together. In high school my boyfriend's jerk friend said I was "Black from the waist down." And I'll never forget the day my Mom called me Chunky-Monkey.

I joined an all women's gym when I turned 14 and tried to go as much as possible but with school, assignments, work and no car, it was hard to find time to go and even harder to find a way to get there. So I wasn't consistent. 4 years later I quit the all women's gym and joined a co-ed gym with my Dad. He and I were supposed to motivate each other but the only time we had to go that worked for both of us was at 5 AM in the morning which is extremely hard to do especially since I am not a morning person. Also, and it`s taken me 5 years to figure out, I`m not a gym person either.

Which brings me to today. Years of trying to get my body into shape and I still get out of breath climbing the stairs. It's hard for me to stay motivated and I have to admit that I am a little lazy when it comes to working out. Recently, I've discovered that I love jogging, yoga, swimming, and walking, which is very therapeutic I've come to realize. I also learned that it's important to change up my work out each day or else I get bored and it becomes a chore. Finding out these things about myself are going to help me stay motivated because it's time for me to finally get on track, no more procrastinating!

Other parts of my life feel like they're finally coming together, which motivates me even more to get my body into shape. I'm going to school for Interior Design which has always been my dream job and when I graduate, I want to be one of those sophisticated, thin, energetic designers who wears skinny jeans and funky shoes. Also, for the first time in my life I feel incontrol of my choices and my life, like maybe I'm finally at an age where my life is considered mine. Now that my life has started to fall into place, I want my body to follow suit. I want to feel beautiful and sexy and not shy away when meeting new people. I want to achieve each and every one of my goals and being healthy is one of the most important on my list.

I know that being healthy is a journey that you take throughout your entire life and it is time for me to take that first step to becoming a better me.

Just came across your page... the part about being a high-energy designer who wears skinny jeans and funky shoes cracked me up. I too went to school for interior design (don't work in the field anymore but that's beside the point) and all of my instructors were like that. I idolized them! Good luck on your journey becomming one of them... I know you'll get there!

    Hey love!!!
Thank you for the good wishes:) Work was slow... but I walked there and back! 40 minutes of endurance, but worth it! That breakfast kept me going YUM! I'm proud of you for switching away from the dreaded FB and all of the drama and stress it causes. I think they should have an addict centre or a group recovery unit for people who use that site more than they eat or sleep! Or... even better they should replace their FB time with some kinda exercise;) Trust me you are NOT a slacker. You couldn't be if you tried. Ttyl
    Love ya tons! xo
