I am in my seventh year of living a healthy life style!!
I celebrated my fifth year anniversary with SparkPeople February 12, 2018. I reached my goal weight on 2/7/12 - almost a year to the day I joined SparkPeople!! Sometimes my weight goes up a little bit, but I manage to drop it back down and maintain with different challenges on the SparkPeople web site, the support of my SparkBuddies as well as future physical goals.

I started off with walking. If you would have told me three years ago that I would have run a 5k, I would have never believed it!

As of today, I have run 5ks, 10k's, 3 ten milers, and 5 Half Marathons! Funny how fast one's perspective can change...even for us middle-aged people!

Even though I have conquered all of the above, I am faced with an even bigger "challenge". I lost my 26 year old son three years ago to Anorexia Nervosa. I am still in the grieving process and it is very difficult. I need to stay healthy, but, it is not the first thing on my mind. And, since he passed away from counting calories, weighing himself on the scale 3 times per day, and eating halves of everything - it has been a real mental challenge for me.

I am currently trying to only eat "whole foods". I eat 1 ingredient foods.I no longer eat white flour, meat, fish or dairy. Watch the movie "Forks Over Knives" for more info.

My favorite quotes...

All you can change is yourself, but sometimes that changes everything! Gary W. Goldstein

Take care of your body. It's the only place you have to live. - Jim Rohn

What you are doing is not nearly as important as how you feel about what you are doing. - Unknown

There'll be two dates on your tombstone. And all your friends will read 'em. But all that's gonna matter is that little dash between 'em. - Kevin Welch

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. Walt Disney

Accomplishment only takes place when you actively participate with your intentions. Therefore, fully commit to participate in the dreams of your choice and do so against all the risks confronting you. Guru Singh

Well, that's interesting and at least there's no change! Our bodies make all kinds of strange things we wouldn't see if we didn't have the ability to do so. Perhaps nothing will ever happen.

I've been exercising like a fiend and most of me is benefiting from it but other parts have melted down as perhaps I didn't have good form. I'm taking PT to learn how to walk and exercise "properly" as I've got bursitis in both greater trochanter bursas (IT bands) and in my hamstring tendons. Poor form caught up with me! Ice is my new best friend. However even with this I feel more physically fit than I have in years.

Keep checking in, I miss your "voice"!
