Hi-- my name is Trish and I live in CT. I have 4 children, and the youngest is special needs. He's spent about 6 months in the PICU shortly after he was born, had 4 open heart surgeries, was fed through a tube for 4 years, and came too close to death so many times, I lost count.

Yet here he is, in the picture, almost 10. I never thought I'd see double digits.

I've learned so much from him, mostly that only life and love matter. Everything else is small stuff-- money, disagreements, food-- it's all minor. Every day I get to wake up and still call myself a mother to 4 kids, well, everything else that happens that day pales in comparison.

I had lost 80 lbs through WW after he was born, and kept it off for 3 glorious years. Don't ask me how, with the stress I was under with medical appointments, therapies, school woes, and multiple minor surgeries for him. Anyway, he went back into the hospital in 2006 for his last heart surgery and spent another 6 weeks fighting to stay alive. I surrendered to the food god after about a week of no sleep and stress off the charts. And I gained back 60 of the 80 lbs I had lost.

So I'm trying again. He's stable, in a great school and doing very well physically. So now it's my time again. This is a journey, not something that needs to be done in a hurry, and in the meantime, I'll just focus on making healthy choices. I have a lot to live a long time for.

I want to lose at least 20lbs by June 4th when I'll run my 4th half marathon. Due to an injury, I think another whole marathon is out of the picture. But I'm excited to beginning this journey again, and hope (and pray) the enthusiasm lasts. If I don't lose it by the 20th, anything I lose is a gain!

All I can do is keep trying.

Fitness Minutes: 42,848

My Goals:
Run a half marathon in June (did it in Oct 1:47:13)

Swam 3 mile open water swim Sept- 1:27.

First trail race- 10 K, 58 min. 2nd overall female, 1st masters woman. (Yahoo!)

Possible future races:

2nd trail race in series, 10K, June 4- did it. great time but fell 3X and decided it's not worth it to get hurt that badly. Not doing anymore for now.

June 18, Olympicdistance triathlon (1 mi swim, 25 mi bike, 10 K run) Water was in the 60s too cold.

July 2nd, 3rd trail 10K in series Nope

July 13, sprint triathlon (,5 mi swim, 12 mi bike, 5K run) Nope- too sore from MT climbing teh week before

July 30 4th and last trail 10K in series

Go camping with Carrie this summer




Stop beating myself up

Run injury free

Get my cholesterol down to nomal

Be more aware on a daily basis of the great people and circumstances in my life


My Program:
Log in to Sparkpeople every day and log my calories

Log my exercise (cross training with biking, swimming and running. Some form of exercise 6days/wk)

work out with trainer 2x/wk

    Thanks for the comment on my BLOG. I will look into that book this weekend. And NO I stopped going to WW and NOW I'm going back. I need the accountablity and support from a group. SP is great but I need to see my weight loss in black & white and my leader asking me if I'm ok with it.

    Thanks for the encouragement with Boston. I wish I qualified- I was blessed to get a number from my running club. I have run Boston once before - 1998 in 4:24. My goal now is at 41.5 yrs old- run faster & better- goal is :
    FINISH
    better my PR
    break 4 hrs
    qualify at 3:50

    Thanks for the blog comment! It was a total cook-off today, and well worth the 2 hours and 10 minutes, LOL! I timed myself to convince me that it's totally worth my time and not as big of a deal as I thought.

    I am set for the week, with some additional cooking for DH (but I can do that with my eyes closed).

    The 2 lbs of bloat and the 3 pound committment kept me in line today. Thank you for starting it! I could have eaten more carbs, and bunches of the stuff I cooked for DH -- but I passed it by. Whew!

    Trish, your comment on Chit Chat was right on -- I DO need someone to help me BELIEVE that I need time off. Yep. Not so much permission as convincing. I had no idea I was this bad!
