Ruthiebear can succeed - I will NOT give up!
June 2017
I have had my ups and downs. I have lost a lot of weight, only to gain it back. BUt I am still here after almost 8 years. I now eat healthy. I exercise, but not enough. The stress I have faced in the past has quieted down a lot, but is not gone.
I am determined to life a healthy lifestyle, no matter what my weight is. I am learning to love who I see in the mirror and not judge myself constantly.

I am determined to life a healthy lifestyle, no matter what my weight is. I am learning to love who I see in the mirror and not judge myself constantly.
I want to weigh less, but I am not going to base my feeling of success or confidence in that number. I am worth more than what the scale says.
As I age, I am finding I care less and less what others think about me when they make assumptions because of my weight.
I am thankful for all of my SP friends who have joined me on this lifelong journey and encouraged me along the way.
November 30 2015
I am still here. I am finally at a place to think positive and try again. This journey is not an easy one. One step at a time is all I can do some days. But I WILL make forward progress.
Update 2/2015
In the last several years I have been under a lot of stress over which I had little or no control. My healthy habits diminished and the weight started coming back on. I got very disappointed in myself. I can now say, thankfully, that by sticking with SparkPeople through it all, I am now back on track and doing all within my power to stay there. I am thankful to all of my friends here who have supported, encouraged and inspired me along the way.
I have been married 40 years. I have three children and one grandchild. WHen i found out I have severe sleep apnea in 2008, I decided it was time to do something about my weight. I began seeing a nutritionist because I am a vegetarian who eats seafood and dairy, I needed to make sure I was eating the right combinations of foods in the right amounts. I told the nutritionist from the onset that I did not want a diet, but a lifestyle of eating the foods I already eat. She has been great in helping me to do that.
I love crossword puzzles, sudoku, Jane Austen, mysteries, many types of music, teddy bears, photography and lots more.
Knowing that there are others who are traveling on this same weight loss journey is a big help and encouragement. If I can help anyone or encourage anyone, I want to do it, because some days I am the one who needs it.
I can do this one day at a time, one step at a time. Some days when I look at how far I have to go, it gets discouraging, so I try to focus on each small step I accomplish instead.
It has been six months since I began and I have lost 53 pounds. I know I have a long way to go, but at least I am doing well along the way.
Update: I am now down 55 pounds and two clothes sizes. I am also able to be more active than I have in a long, long time without so much pain. I am very thankful.
Happy New Year - 64 pounds gone!
I began the I Lost It at PEAC (my gym) program at the end of January. As of Feb. 17th, I have lost 8.8 pounds for a total of 72 pounds gone!!!!
March 27, 2009 - 85 pounds down!!!
What a difference a year makes! I went from being 180 pounds overweight and not being able to breathe easily or exercise at all to today - 86 pounds down, breathing better and working out at the gym every day! Thank you SP friends for believing in me and to SP for giving me the tools to continue to succeed!
We can do this together because we are worth it!
August 21, 2009 : I made it to the first milestone - 100 pounds gone forever! My reward is getting new glasses!
My next short term goal is to get to 225, what I weighed 26 years ago when I had my second child.
I have been stuck for two years. No matter what I change up, I have gained instead of lost. But I am determined 2012 is going to be my year to get losing again. I am not giving up!
Oct, 2012 It has been a stressful two years. I have gained some weight, but I am not out yet! I am determined to continue on. I eat healthy and exercise daily. The weight is coming off slowly - but like the tortoise, slow and steady will win!!!
November, 2013 - I am still stuck, but even more determined than ever to keep going. Life is full of stressful situations. I am learning the hard way that food is not the answer.
Blessings to all of you.
