My name is Heather. I'm 28 years old, and I teach high school language arts.

I've always struggled with my weight. I went on my first diet when I was 16. I was on an extreme version of Atkins (never eating more than 20 carbs per day for over a year), and I unsurprisingly lost weight. I went from 200 pounds to somewhere around 155 pounds, and I stayed there. I know for many people 155 is still heavy, but I felt healthy at that weight. Unfortunately, my body became accustomed to that diet, and I started gaining weight even though I didn't increase my caloric or carbohydrate intake. At that point, I was frustrated and gave up.

I unsuccessfully attempted a variety of other plans, and none of them worked very well until 2009. I had moved away from home and had a limited amount of money to spend on food. I decided to use $30/month of that on a gym membership, making my food and water (we have terrible water where I live) budget about $100/month. By going to the gym every day, working an active job, and eating less, I managed to go from 220 pounds to 175 pounds. I kept on this weight loss program for about a year before gaining weight back again.

Since those two times, I've done Insanity and TurboFire. I lost over thirty pounds with both programs, but I always lose 30-50 pounds then gain back 20-60 pounds. I'm now at the heaviest I've ever been, 286 pounds, and I've recently been diagnosed with high blood pressure, hypothyroidism, and a few other medical issues. I know that my inability to control my weight has exacerbated if not caused the majority of my medical issues. I'm ready to lose weight and feel good about myself again.

My reward cruise was the Alaska cruise. It just took me that long to take it. I had to get everything in place. I loved the cruise. I would do it all over again. It was a great trip.
