Hi everyone and welcome to my LIFE.. I'm a 70 year old, happily married woman living in Central Fl. and am a Mom to our feline fur kid, Max I've. have been a member of Spark since August 6, 2006. When I joined Spark, I weighed 150 pounds which was the most I ever weighed. My weight today is 130. I have to watch my weight since I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in June of 2015. So far I'm not on medication, and I hope to keep it that way. Then in September of 2017 I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Osteo-arthritis and I am on methotrexate for that. It is imperative I keep my joints moving. I have a peddling machine here at home that i plan on using 6 days a week.

I love music and up until February of this year (2019) I played alto saxophone in my church's "House Band" as our Bishop named us. My church is St. Mary's Episcopal in Dade Ciry, Fl. Because of all my physical challenges, it became harder for me to go to rehearsal Sat. mornings and also play Sunday mornings. By Monday I was exhausted. I was becoming quite undependable and that is not fair to my music director or the band. God and I decided it was time to step down. It was a very difficult decision, but I am at peace now. I will keep playing at home, and will play a solo once in a while when my music director asks me to.

Here are a few of my favorite music quotations.

"Music is the prayer the heart sings." Unknown

"Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything." - Plato

"Music is your own experience, your thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn."... Charlie Parker
*************************
A Cat's Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray this cushy life to keep.
I pray for toys that look like mice,
And sofa cushions, soft and nice.
I pray for gourmet kitty snacks,
And someone nice to scratch my back,
For windowsills all warm and bright,
For shadows to explore at night.
I pray I'll always stay real cool
And keep the secret feline rule
To NEVER tell a human that
The world is really ruled by CATS!

Hi ElayneMae - We are indeed alike. I also love music, reading and sports sometimes. I have 2 cats , a female (Anissa) and a male (Patches). They are both indoor cats. Anissa is the most loving, acts more like a dog and is the dominate of the 2. Patches is the most shy, but is also loving, but not to the extemt as Anissa. They are from the same litter and are now 10 yrs old. I just turned 61 on Nov. 29th. I live in South Portland, Maine. I moved from New Haven, Ct , 16 yrs ago and came to Portland, Maine with my then boyfriend, Les. We married 4 yrs later. I married late in life at the age of 48. We were married for 6 yrs before he passed away in Dec or 2000. Ive had no one since. But I am doing OK. There is blessedness in being single. I picked the name Princess601 for a reason. I am the Princess of the King, as we all are princesses and princes who believe in Christ. Hugs - Loretta.

ANGELBELIEVER, you have really done well on your weight loss. You are a real inspiration to me. I use to do WW but everytime I would get to my weight goal, I would end up gaining and then would quit because I didn't want to pay. I just have a tough time maintaining. I like the way you have your sparkpage with your goals numbered.

It is cold in North Dakota today, below 0 temps but then it's January. See you on the threads!!
