Shimmying my way to a healthier me!
I started SparkPeople in 2010; I was 195 lbs. At 5 feet, 5 inches, it was not a terribly healthy place to be.
I was tired of feeling slow and tired all the time. I was tired about fretting over my health. I was tired of knowing that this could mean lots of problems down the road for me. And given my dad's side of the family's health issues, I just couldn't risk my health any more.

I was tired of feeling slow and tired all the time. I was tired about fretting over my health. I was tired of knowing that this could mean lots of problems down the road for me. And given my dad's side of the family's health issues, I just couldn't risk my health any more.
In 2013, I hit a plateau that I just couldn't shake. I thought I could just maintain at 155 lbs, just 5 lbs. shy of my goal weight.
I fell off the bandwagon. Hard.
Since then, I've been off and on SP. Sometimes half-heartedly, sometimes with 100% vigor and the best of heart. I'd always get burned out because I had to track EVERYTHING.
In 2016, I lost my father, months before he would have turned 60. His final BP numbers, two weeks before his death, were 217/125; his final recorded wight before he passed was 392 lbs. He walked nearly every day, but his consumption habits (and his depression) worked against him, and walking wasn't enough.
In 2017, my workplace lost its boss at an age years younger than my father's. It shook me hard, and I chose to start SP again. I managed to hit 168 lbs. before I burned out.
This year, 2019...I'm doing this for me. My body deserves better. Working in a restaurant has proven challenging, but I have been choosing wiser options for myself and not sneaking so many snacks. I have a food scale at home again, so I am measuring out the juice I take my vitamin with, instead of having a glassful. I am feeling better about myself, more confident, and less worried about my health.
I'm not as obsessed with dropping weight this time; I just want to treat my body better, because my soul deserves a nice place to live in.
