Hello! My name is Renee, and as of Christmas Eve 2019, I am on the path of Intuitive Eating as I slowly continue moving back toward my natural healthy weight, wherever that ends up being.

Over the past five years, I have lost a significant amount of weight - over 100 pounds down from my all-time high - and I am continuing to slowly lose. I haven't even been at my current weight since 1993, so I am still learning as I go where I am going to be in my older body (I'm 49).

I eat lots of whole grains, beans/tofu, greens, veggies, fruits, with small amounts of nuts and seeds. I also eat things like peanut butter on whole grain seed bread and Amy's Kitchen meals. I especially love her chili.

And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over.” Mark 5:34

The dieting rules also trigger an inner rebellion, because they are an assault on your personal autonomy and boundaries.
from the IE Workbook

We must not judge ourselves. Rather than thinking, "That thought (feeling or action) is irrational and self-destructive - what in the world is wrong with me?" we need to think, "That thought (feeling or action) is hurting me a lot more than it's helping me. I think I'd rather let go of it."
Susan Kano, Making Peace With Food

If we truly want to be good to ourselves, heal ourselves, and grow, then we need to be patient. We need to change when we're ready and not push ourselves too hard. When we are truly ready to let go of a recurring thought, feeling, or action, we will not need to push it away, "cut it out," or "force ourselves;" we will simply let go of it - naturally choose peace of mind and greater satisfaction over struggle and dissatisfaction.
Susan Kano, Making Peace With Food

We use the concept of natural healthy weight. This is the weight your body will maintain with normal/intuitive eating and normal movement.
Intuitive Eating book p. 178

Guilt may be an appropriate emotion when you have hurt another person or committed a crime, but guilt has no place in your eating world.
Intuitive Eating by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch

All that is required is to do the best you can, taking into consideration your situation in the moment.
Connie Sobczak, Embody: Learning to Love Your Unique Body

Dropping the pursuit of weight loss isn’t about giving up, it’s about moving on. When you make choices because they help you feel better, not because of their presumed effect on your weight, you maintain them over the long run. You do it because you want to, not because you believe you should. When you stop trying to control your weight through willpower, your body starts doing the job for you—naturally, and much more effectively. If you stop fighting yourself, achieving and maintaining a healthy weight is effortless.
Lindo Bacon, Health At Every Size

Your body is not meant to be at a weight that it can sustain only through restriction.
Christy Harrison, Anti-Diet

My Goals:
Last I weighed, I am down 107 pounds. I don't know where I will end up.

I will still be eating the same way as I do today, so I don't worry about "being done," there is no "end date," I am just making healthy eating decisions and watching my body shape change over time, until it gets to the point where weight loss naturally stops. Right now I am still carrying excess weight, so my intuitive eating is still resulting in weight loss.

Intuitive Eating teaches us to stop weighing, but I am not totally there yet while I am still losing weight. When I get to my natural weight range, then I will probably get into a comfort zone and give up the scale.

My Program:
Intuitive Eating (as taught by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch).

Personal Information:
I live in Virginia with my wonderful husband, Chris, and my beautiful rescue cat, Mondo Kitty.
