My name is Sara. It's been 7 years since I first joined spark and it's been a rollercoaster ride of lessons. I am a shared custody single mom. I work full time as an engineer, own my own home, and am raising a beautiful, curious, little boy. I spent years hating my body, believing that life will finally be perfect, happy and loved when I reach that goal number but never before. In 2016, I learned that I am deserving of all the best things because I am a good, smart, capable and kind person. I started going after what I want with 100% certainty that I would get exactly what I was searching for. I believed I could so I did. I paid off $40,000 in debt, sold my large house for a smaller 2 bedroom townhouse, got rid of 50% of my possessions, landed a new job, moved 2 hours closer to my family and my sons dad so we can keep shared custody when he starts school next year, and found love with the man I've been dreaming of finding! I'm the heaviest I've ever been and the happiest I've ever been. This reality shattered my negative mentality. I'm no longer defined by my body. My focus for 2017 is refining the areas of my life that still need work. Debt, decluttering, and my health. I'm excited about the future, content with my past and making the most of the present. My starting weight is in the mid 190s but I threw away the scale. It's unhealthy to define myself by a number that is just a number. When you have a lot of weight to lose, 1 pound even 10 pounds is insignificant. I am not weighing myself at all in 2017. Each day I'm going to focus on the momentum being made by my good choices and live in the feeling of working out and how food makes me feel. No more guilt trips, no more crying over a number. No more rewarding myself because I've lost 10 lbs that lead to falling "off the wagon." No more wagon, no more diets. No bad foods. My calorie target is between 1200-1800 calories a day. I allow myself complete freedom when events come up. No guilt because I'm thinking long term. Each day committing to get my workouts in. I decided to commit to Kayla Itsines bikini body guide that I found online for free. I'm making myself workout at home, in the present of my son, without buying anything. I intend to follow to do BBG 1.0, then repeat, then BBG 2.0 and repeat. I am not following her meal plan currently but I may try it when I get to the 2.0 program. Very excited to see where a year of intention will take me.
