The first thing you should know about me is that I'm A DONE GIRL!!!! That means I don't have to wonder if I can do this- I know I can even if I have to re-start 1000 times!! As Dave Ramsey said, "It's not over until you quit," and I will not quit!

There are so many things I am DONE with like...
I am done being the fat girl & the fat friend.
I am done secretly referring to myself as "Big Momma" because I tower over and around all my friends.
I am done being the girl who is scared of any physical exertion in front of other people.
I am done sitting on the sidelines
I am done with beating myself up.
I am done putting my happiness in other people's hands.
I am done opting out because I am scared to fail.
And as of August, 2010 I am DONE (so very, very DONE) with comparing myself to others!

I am striving to be a new woman! A woman who jumps in and takes risks, one who believes in herself and has the confidence to take charge, one who remembers that I am the only person in charge of my happiness!

I remind myself daily (sometimes hourly) that I can re-start at any moment, even if it is 12 times each day as long as I don't quit! I WILL NOT QUIT!!

My Mantras:
(1) "There comes a time when you have to stand up and shout: This is me! I look the way I look, think the way I think, feel the way I feel, love the way I love! I am a whole complex package. Take me... or leave me. Accept me - or walk away!"

(2) Let the past stay in the past

(3) I can only be me. This is MY life and this is MY journey - the dips and the turns are what make me unique.

I recently realized that I have to work hard towards my goals and that means I have to DO THE DAILY WORK! I have to make the choice everyday and every meal to be committed.

I want everyday to be as great as possible. I am going to laugh more and dance more and I know that I will reach my goals.

It helps to keep in mind the things that make me smile:
1. Book clubs
2. Meditating in my old blue sweatshirt in the early morning, especially on an empty beach
3. Old school Bob Marley & Sam Cooke
4. Playing tennis & swimming
5. Happy music (I have a "Get up & go" morning mix)
6. Random trivia played with my sisters

My Goals:
My main goal is to get to a place where I am comfortable with my weight and I am healthy. That means I want my BMI below 24 and my waist smaller than 35 inches. My big goal is to be HOT BY 30!! More than anything though, I want to be happy and enjoy this journey - it's not always about the end result.

My Program:
Well, I try to be realistic with my program. I really believe the key to my success will be to continue to make small changes. Of course, I am not perfect but I realized that this is a daily choice. Each day I have to choose to stay committed and when I don't make the right choice I try to forget about whatever happened in the past and move forward.

I started with the original spark program meaning counting calories and exercising. After I lost the first 30-40lbs I lost momentum. Now, 2 years later, I am re-starting the program by making small changes. I count my calories and try to stay around 1500 per day (with one free meal on Sundays) and I exercise a few times a week. I change what I do for exercise every month to keep things interesting.

Personal Information:
I am a young woman and I have been overweight my ENTIRE life. I have unsuccessfully tried every diet. I have never managed to make it even half way to my final goal.

I am here to finally take charge of my life and make the lifestyle change that will lead to a healthier me. Even though I want to be slim, I am more concerned about my health because 3 of my grandparents died from heart disease or diabetes and both of my parents have related conditions. It stops with me!

Some other stuff:
I struggle with depression but I consider myself a winner if I can make it through the day accomplishing even one small goal.

I live in the south east with my family but I am single with no kids and I like being completely unattached right now! I like living only for me and trying to figure myself out.

In addition to the health benefits I just want to take my life back and live it to the fullest (I know, cliche) while I still can!

Other Information:
I love quotes. There is something about hearing someone say something that just cuts right to your core. It's like that Roberta Flack song remade by the Fugees "Killing me softly." When I find one that touches me I start using it as a mantra.

This one I really like - "Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities have crept in. Forget them as soon as you can."

    Climb The Mountain

I tried to climb the mountain today. As I inched my way up the path, I felt out of breath and had to turn back.
I tried to climb the mountain today. But, It was so hot outside, I thought I had better stay in my nice air-conditioned house and rest up for tomorrow's attempt.
I tried to climb the mountain today. On my journey, darkness started to fall and I was full of fear, so I had to return to a safe place.
I was ready to climb the mountain today. But I had so may other things to do, so instead of climbing the mountain I took care of the much more important tasks; I washed my car, mowed the grass and watched the big game. Today the mountain will have to wait.
I was going to climb the mountain today. But as I stared at the mountain in all it's majestic beauty, I knew I had no chance of making it to the top, so I figured why even begin trying.
I had forgotten about climbing the mountain today, until an old friend came by and asked what I was up to lately. I told him about all my plans to climb that mountain someday. I went on and on about how I was going to accomplish the task.
He stopped me and said, "I just got back from climbing that mountain. for the longest time I told myself I was going to try to climb it but never made any progress."
"I almost let the dream of making it to the top die. I came up with every excuse of why I could not make it up the mountain, but never once did I give myself a reason why I could. One day as I stared at the mountain and pondered, I realized that if I didn't make an attempt at this dream all my dreams would eventually die."
" The next morning, I started my climb. It was not easy, and at times I wanted to quit. But no matter what I faced, I placed one foot in front of the other, keeping a steady pace. When the wind tried to blow me over the edge, I kept walking. When the voices inside my head screamed, stop! I focused on my goal, never letting it out of sight. I kept moving forward. I could not quit because I knew I had come too far to stop now. Time and time again, I reassured myself that I was going to finish this journey. I struggled mightily to make it to the top, but I CLIMBED THE MOUNTAIN."
"I have to be going," my friend said. "Tomorrow is a new day to accomplish more dreams. By the way what are you going to do tomorrow?"
I looked at him, with intensity and confidence in my eyes, and said, "I HAVE A MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB."Author unknown

I hope you're having a wonderful day! As you can tell, I love quotes lol and I thought this would apply to pretty much everyone, especially myself! Hope you like it emoticon

Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.

I was looking through some quotes about dreams and this really made me think. It is completely right. I hope to try and live my life by this quote aswell. I hope you enjoy!

Our waking hours form the text of our lives, our dreams, the commentary.
