I am getting myself out of a slump, during which I gained some weight. Mostly I just haven't been exercising or sleeping properly. I'm sure the two go hand in hand. When I was in better shape I walked/ran on the treadmill 6 days a week and did yoga/pilates as well. I haven't been exercising regularly for a few years and it's taken its toll on my overall well-being.

I am a mostly vegetarian, moreso as time goes on. I have not eaten red meat since I graduated high school. I eat some fish (wild, preferably) + turkey bacon. Very minimal dairy; someday I may give it up altogether. I ate total processed crap growing up -- I was a fat tween/teen -- and didn't really discover what real food was about until I was a senior in college.

I usually eat no processed foods; once in a blue moon I will stray with some cookies/diet soda. I try to make all my food purchases organic or from the Greenmarket/local; when this is not possible I choose clean foods, whatever looks unadulterated.

Splenda is my last addiction. I hope to beat it one day.

Cutting carbs down to @ 100g per day seems to be working. 2 lbs in 8 days so far!

Am on a green smoothie kick; at first 1x daily, and now enjoying 2 smoothies per day. Love, love, love it! A great way to get leafy greens.

Check out my food log to view my concoctions and my diet in general.

    Well, you can check my Food Log page (link is at the bottom here) for specifics but in general it's a "shake" style beverage made with fresh (green) vegetables, fruits, and (usually) a protein powder in a milk or milk-like base.

    For example, yesterday I made a green smoothie with:

    *almond milk (I made my own by blending 7.5 soaked-overnight raw almonds with 1 cup water but store-bought almond milk is fine)

    * 2 ounces kale

    * 1 ounce watercress

    * a few sprigs worth of mint leaves (just the leaves, not the sprigs themselves)

    * 1.5 T lime juice (the yield of half a lime)

    * 2 ounces blueberries

    * 1/2 ounce blackberries

    * 1 serving Tera's Whey Blueberry Flavor
    oz-organic-blueberry.html ]

    * 1 T raw Cacao Powder

    * Sweetener to taste. I use Splenda (!!!)

    It was delicious!
