Food is my drug, my carbo fatty salt lick..my imaginary friend. When I'm lonely it's there, where I'm happy it's there. It's there when I'm anxious, mad, elated. It doesn't care if I'm overweight. As a matter of fact, it's there even more then. It doesn't care if I huff and puff because I am out of shape. It's even there more then. It doesn't care if I use my treadmill. It doesn't care that my knees hurt when I go up and down stairs. It's not it's fault...probably just my bones. What a friend, my food. I keep hearing food's cousin, healthier alternatives, calling my name and promising a better life but really....?

My Goals:
Cut back on my carbo fatty salt-lick foods and welcome mindful eating in my life.

Get healthier in order to get off many of my meds.

Increase activity.

My Program:
Mindful eating.

Personal Information:
I''m from Southwest Missouri.

Other Information:
The hardest thing I''m going to have to learn on this journey is how to cook healthier.

My father was a cook in the army (he died in 1971). His cooking style is what I adopted, such as fried pork chops, lots and lots of gravy and mashed potatoes, which I must say I make soooooo good.

To me the healthier cooking style is boring and has about 75% less flavor. Learning to cook differently is going to be one of my hardest changes. Sometimes I wonder if I''m not clinging to that type of cooking because I''m clinging to the memory of my father. Hmmm.....something I will have to ponder for a while.
