Self-destruction has many agents; mine have been gluttony and sloth. I have plenty to live for; sick and tired of being sick and tired--ate myself into diabetes and severe high blood pressure; parts of me are beyond repair so having to adapt to limitations. I weighed over 200 lbs from July of 1997 (highest weight 245) until early Sept 2015; due to very difficult circumstances this past year I gained back 20 lbs which has badly aggravated my diabetes. Enough is enough!!
I actually have goal measurements more than a goal weight. My highest waist measurement was 51 inches; getting it down to about 30 (w/ the rest proportionate) is realistic and will get rid of one (and hopefully more) Metabolic Syndrome factor. My final goal of 145 lbs will put me well within healthy BMI territory--maintained close to that weight for a long time in the past, especially once I add some more muscle.
I want my hourglass back but banana is acceptable (the cylinder w/ a few bulges top and bottom that I am now is a BIG improvement over the barrel shape I had but...) here's to success!!

My Goals:
Getting my weight down to 145 from my worst of 245 should get rid of my high blood pressure and control my Type 2 diabetes--no longer dragging around 100 lbs of dead weight should help my fatigue and foot and knee pain a lot!
Working on developing an adapted exercise program, taking my foot/hand/knee damage into consideration; a strong heart and strong muscles will enable me to do all I need and want to do!!

My Program:
Food: Refusing to suffer for the sake of a food plan; if it's not delicious, I'm not going to eat it! Long term goal is to develop an effective, sustainable lifestyle that will keep my health issues under control. Dukan has worked very well for me in the past so am using that.
Exercise: Designing a plan working around my limitations (very painful ruined feet, heart condition that leaves me tired and short of breath more often than not etc) so using a good home pedaler, body weight, free weights, Pilates, etc.
Attitude: treat myself like I matter--made my body into living sacrifice for enough years to essentially ruin my health so now it's time to take excellent care of ME.

Personal Information:
Tired, lumpy-but-shrinking, retired/disabled Respiratory Therapist recently moved back to the MO Ozarks after 15 years near Cincinnati. but have lived in an assortment of other places including Kansas City for a time with daughter who now lives in Chicago (stepson lives in Anchorage, AK). Fed up with being chronically ill which is mostly due to chronic self-neglect and food abuse.
Marriage blew up again last summer, this time for good, for multiple reasons. Now cooling my heels in Branson, which I am enjoying even in the off-season. I just want to get better, which will not happen unless I get this weight off.

Other Information:
Love sewing and needlework (bought yarn as souvenirs in both Ireland and Alaska); if arthritis and neuropathy in hands give me problems I read instead. Really enjoy recipe collecting/inventing; learning how to make healthy versions of my ethnic faves.
Also really into purebred cats; ask me about Cat Fanciers Association shows!
