Hi! My name is Lynn. I live with my spouse and three Chihuahuas in Phoenix AZ.

Like many here, I joined SparkPeople.com to lose weight/diet (yuch - I hate that four letter word!). Now I use "manage my health".

After listening and reading a lot on this website, I decided I didn't need a diet. I learned I needed to develop a healthy lifestyle. I just didn't know what I was getting myself out of and into :-)

I just rewrote my goals, modifying my program to be reasonable and achievable. The hardest part is realizing I am talking changing daily, little by little so that at some point, the changes aren't changes anymore - it is simply the way I live.

In the process, I get to meet a lot of fantastic people (yes, I am talking about you!), get healthy, and have fun.

Who knew I would be so blessed?!

"The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer,
the top of the live-long year,
like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel
when it pauses in its turning."
~Natalie Babbit from the wonderful story "Tuck Everlasting"

It's official! I'm a bag lady!!! emoticon The crazy couple 2 houses down are being evicted. A couple weeks ago they started throwing stuff away! They hauled out 2 shopping carts from a local grocery store & parked them by the dumpsters. One was blue plastic kind of mesh, the other a rusty metal one! I know they are expensive so I told one of the managers at the grocery store about picking them up & she said they didn't want them back. They are the old style so they could be disposed of! I asked at the Salvation Army if they were interested! They weren't.

I pushed the blue plastic one around & those little hard wheels go pretty well through the dirt in the alley. I hate my wheel barrow. The tire is always going flat. I got talked into buying the plastic instead of the metal & it cracked hauling bags of river rock. I bought one of those canvas wagons with the solid wheels but don't like it much either. So I pushed the cart into the backyard. Used it to haul a couple 40# bags of potting soil & it worked pretty well.

Tonight when I came home from "the farm" I had several covered Pyrex bowls to go from ice coolers to the frig, a tub of dirty dishes to haul into the kitchen to wash & my portable BBQ and propane bottles to put back in the garage. I went into the backyard and got the grocery cart & used it to transport all that stuff!

So now I am the proud owner emoticon of a grocery cart...an official "bag lady"!

"The benefits of healthy choices far outweighs the number on the scale. Let's continue to reduce our risk of disease, build strong muscle and bone, stay flexible and mobile, improve our cardiovascular system, help our body heal itself, increase our energy level, relieve stress, slow the aging process (and who doesn't want that ?!?)... and so much more.
Don't give the scale any power. Take note of the number then get off the scale and live your life." ~ Steve Maraboli

Harvest got 'rained out' yesterday so had Saturday night off. They will try again this afternoon so I won't know until after 2 if I am hauling food to the field on Sunday or taking my mom out to dinner for her 85th birthday!!! I took her last night just in case. Not feeling well. I had plenty to do yesterday but caught up on sleep instead.

I have missed some opportunities and screwed up others. I have my share of regrets and sad edges around a relationship or two. I’ve disappointed my family, friends and even more often myself. I have complained, whined, and been noisy, and then other times been silent when I should have spoken up. But tonight I will go to sleep with a smile knowing that tomorrow is right around the corner and another chance to get it right will be waiting for me.
