I'm a 32-year old singer/songwriter/musician who has struggled off and on for over a decade to stay fit. At 5'7", I've hovered around 170 lbs. for years. At 20, I weighed about 135 lbs., then gained some poundage. At 25, I got down to 155 lbs. A few months ago, I topped off at 178. I hold weight in a strange way. No one can ever believe how much I weigh, and when I compare myself to other women at the same height/weight, I look very different. But the bottom line is: I'm overfat and fed up with feeling like crud. I finally reached a point in late April where I was tired of feeling badly about myself and my lack of self-discipline and have been working out 5-7 days a week ever since. I've lost 10 pounds in the last 10 weeks, which isn't a whole lot, but I've been tweaking my eating habits, as well as lifting weights, which I think is adding muscle as I lose fat (and accounts for the low weight-loss numbers). My size 10 pants and capris are finally getting too big, and I am guessing (and crossing fingers!) to be in my size 8's within the next couple of weeks. I've never felt this dedicated to working out, and I hope to keep the momentum going. I just finished Couch to 5K last week, and am continuing to run 3 miles, 3 days per week for awhile, before eventually starting another running program. I am a certified yoga instructor, and feeling as fit as I do now has really helped when it comes to teaching. I love seeing everyone's progress on Sparkpeople and before and after photos. It's very inspiring and shows that with a lot of effort, huge changes can happen. Here's to our health!

My Goals:
I want to live my life to its fullest potential, which includes a regular exercise habit and an overall healthy lifestyle. I also want to sell some of my songs and earn money as a songwriter and performer!

My Program:
I've finally established a solid workout ethic. I started the Couch to 5K program at the end of April and finished it on time (9 weeks). Now I'm running 3 miles 3 days per week, and will start the 10K program once I've worked up my speed and played with the incline. I'm lifting weights 4 days per week to rev up my fat loss, as well as practicing yoga when I feel the need.

Personal Information:
I'm a singer, songwriter, musician, and performer living in Cincinnati, Ohio. My husband and I are about to move to an historic area of Covington, Kentucky, which is right across the river. My husband and I have been lovebirds for 9 1/2 years now. Our goal is to be able to make a living playing and writing music together. I'm currently enrolled in a 2-year RN program as my "back-up plan."

Welcome to the Couch to 5k running group!!!! Stop by the message board and introduce yourself to the team. On the team page you will find a thread for each training week. Click on week one and post were you are at in your training. This is a great way to meet others who are in the same phase of training as you. Some of my best friends were in my training week one and we worked through the program together sharing victories, questions, comments, and ideas. I look forward to learning more about you. I will be popping in on the Weeks 1 - 3 training to help answer any questions that might pop up and to cheer you on to your goals! Be blessed! Be a runner!
