Officially, this journey is about lowering cholesterol and blood sugar levels, and I can measure these things to see if I'm making progress and reaching my goals.

I can also measure my heart rate, my weight, my waist, my pants size, my energy level, my caloric intake, and my calories burned.

None of these measurements are the real goal. Don't get me wrong - they measure specific areas of progress, but they don't measure my life. My job right now is to show up and do the work every day. The measurements are there to confirm that progress is being made in specific areas. But they are not the goal.

The real goals are the benefits and changes in my life that result from this work that I'll see along the way. I can predict what some of them might be, but I'm certain that there will be many more that are wonderful surprises. I'm certain that this journey will take me places I never thought imagined it could.

Those are the real rewards, and I look forward to discovering them.

My Goals:
Have the energy to walk around a town or along a trail without making everyone 'wait up' for me while a take long breaks to get my breath back.

If I have an apron, it will be the kind I put in the washer, not the kind I wash in the shower.

Rediscover what life is like without hip pain, back pain and back spasms.

Tucking shirts in will no longer be a faint memory, but something I feel good doing.

Okay, okay - make my Dr and family happy by reducing my cholesterol and blood glucose levels to within healthy ranges.

Wear tunics because I want to, not because I'd be mortified wearing anything that didn't cover the pouch.

"Go ahead, take my picture!"

PROGRESS:
waist -2.5"

thigh -0.5"
upper arm -0.5"


My Program:
Stock up on healthy snack choices at home and work.

Practice looking at drive-thru's with disgust until the feeling just comes naturally.

Eat slow and wait for my body to register satisfaction.

Exercise daily with Wii Fit Plus and EA Sports Active.

Look for signs of progress everywhere and celebrate each one of them.



Personal Information:
A 45-year old woman with a spouse, two teenagers, one cat, and lots of pottery. I'm an Asst. Manager at a retail store and am interested in fair trade, photography, anthropology and sundry artsy stuff.

    We must have started around the same time on sports active tonight because your stats showed up between my 9 week program workout and my ending boxing routine. Great minds think alike. Also great job keeping so active on there! Your stats keep going up and up and up!!!
