I'm a Southerner at heart, stuck in Seattle at the moment, making the most of my time. I'm a returning student who enjoys outdoor festivals, photography, aquascaping, and traveling---everything from the beach, to bed & breakfasts, camping, big uniform hotels with room service, train travel. I thrive on new cities.

I also love the outdoors and would kill for room for a garden.

I have a thing for Scandinavian countries and I'm learning Danish.

Last year, I got my hip replaced, so I'm part cyborg. Autoimmune arthritis slows me down a bit, but I'm learning to take it easy, and I still have fun.

I'm always looking for new buddies.

I got here via Metafilter.

My Goals:
I want to lose the flab that's starting to show up on my thighs and triceps, and to strengthen the supporting muscles for my hip joints.

I want to get into a regular cardiovascular program of exercise and stick with it for the unseen benefits.

My Program:
Sparkpeople for support,
logging food intake,
bodybuilding exercises cribbed from various sources, and walking.

Personal Information:

Other Information:
I have a thing for British TV: Spooks, Waterloo Road, New Tricks, Doc Martin. I love 'em all, good and trashy!

I'm also a big science fiction fan with unpopular opinions: Heinlein was a hack and Firefly is some of the worst crap on earth.

While I eat vegetarian 99.999% of the time at home, I still tear into a good steak once in a while, or lamb if I'm eating out.

I like messing around with computers.

My thoughts are with you. On the up side, the joint replacement will give you much more functionality than the fusion. I've been told knee replacements are the bomb.

I'll have to have my toes fused one day soon, so I'm feelin' your pain.

MGriffith32, hey, good to see you popping up here. :) The Danish is going great, although I've put aside studying it for the summer (too much math and computer classwork to do). I plan to pick it up again in the fall. I still watch Danish podcasts (news, cooking) once a week or so.

It's funny, but I find Danish so much easier than French!
