Hello good people of Spark! I am determined to lose weight but am tired of the number on the scale setting my outlook on life. So, I'm not going to weight myself again until Aug 28, 2014 (**Edit- I've decided to join the Spring 5% Challenge and will have to weight myself but will only do it one time a week!). I know what I weight now, I know what I need to do to get back into my cute clothes I miss wearing and I know what it takes to get there.

No more pigging out! No more drinking too much! No more telling myself that being chubby is OK. No more going out to eat just to make hubby happy. No more insouciance (I love this word, look it up!). NO MORE EXCUSES!

Super Teresa rides again....!!!!!!

My Goals:
My goal is to be able to wear my cute clothes by the end of August. They are patiently waiting for me in the closet.

My Program:
Eat between 1250-1300 cal a day.
Exercise enough to burn 600 calories a day.
Eat only ONE meal out a week and then don't pig out at it.

Here's some math, for my own purposes:
1300 cals eaten against 600 burned through exercise and assuming 1500 other cals burned in a day means an 800 deficit every day. Throw in a meal out once a week at 1500 calories and you've got a 4300 calorie deficit each week. I've got 28 weeks = 34.4 pounds lost.
OR If I eat 1200 cals a day and everything else is the same, 28 weeks = 38.4 pounds lost.
I know the math doesn't really work but this gives me something to hope for, aka, motivation!

Personal Information:
I live in Fort Collins Colorado, which I love. Am happily married with four children, all grown. I am a Web developer and make awesome web sites. I was born in South Bend, then moved to Tucson and now in Colorado. I hike, I bike, I ski, I walk, I don't sit still much, except to read a good book.

Thanks for you comment about our job as parents.... Yes, you are absolutely right! I had a friend who once told me that if you don't spend the first 18 years of your child's life raising them, then you will spend the rest of your OWN life raising them.

Hey, Teresa! Thanks for the comment on my blog! I checked out your page and loved how "ime stands still while on a diet"......so true!
The other day I just "noticed" how many times I wanted to eat something (which I'd been doing since the Christmas goodies started rolling in)...and I can't count that high!!!

I love Ft. Collins! Dh and I are CSU grads. Went out and about the USA, then moved to Ft. Collins for 10 years before moving to the mtns near Granby/Winter Park. Took early retirement and as we speak, we're in AZ giving our snow shovels a break (speaking of "breaks", I've broken 3 so far this winter!) and biking our little brains out---in shorts & sandals!

I'll pass along a couple of suggestions from others:
Post 2 lists on your refrig:
    1) A LIST of OK snacks which are already washed, cut, prepared, measured---- whatever it takes to pop in your mouth. This helps prevent the standing in the front of the refrig or cupboard being tempted by the wrong foods:

    2) A LIST of things to do which will distract you when you are bored or your teeth just want to chew on something:
FIRST drink a 16 oz glass water water or tea..immediately then:
    Walk around the block or
    Jump in the shower or
Call a chatty friend & talk about anything but food or
Dump out a drawer and get busy cleaning & organizing or
Take another shower (a longer one this time!)
Go anywhere there isn't food...get out of the kitchen, the house, and get busy. Distraction is my BFF!

You can do this! I think you should change your spark name 'cause with SP you aren't going to be 159 any more! It's gonna be ancient history! I'd like to "friend" you, if that's OK w/ you!
