Hello good people of Spark! I am determined to lose weight but am tired of the number on the scale setting my outlook on life. So, I'm not going to weight myself again until Aug 28, 2014 (**Edit- I've decided to join the Spring 5% Challenge and will have to weight myself but will only do it one time a week!). I know what I weight now, I know what I need to do to get back into my cute clothes I miss wearing and I know what it takes to get there.

No more pigging out! No more drinking too much! No more telling myself that being chubby is OK. No more going out to eat just to make hubby happy. No more insouciance (I love this word, look it up!). NO MORE EXCUSES!

My Goals:
My goal is to be able to wear my cute clothes by the end of August. They are patiently waiting for me in the closet.

My Program:
Eat between 1250-1300 cal a day.
Exercise enough to burn 600 calories a day.
Eat only ONE meal out a week and then don't pig out at it.

Here's some math, for my own purposes:
1300 cals eaten against 600 burned through exercise and assuming 1500 other cals burned in a day means an 800 deficit every day. Throw in a meal out once a week at 1500 calories and you've got a 4300 calorie deficit each week. I've got 28 weeks = 34.4 pounds lost.
OR If I eat 1200 cals a day and everything else is the same, 28 weeks = 38.4 pounds lost.
I know the math doesn't really work but this gives me something to hope for, aka, motivation!

I live in Fort Collins Colorado, which I love. Am happily married with four children, all grown. I am a Web developer and make awesome web sites. I was born in South Bend, then moved to Tucson and now in Colorado. I hike, I bike, I ski, I walk, I don't sit still much, except to read a good book.

    Hey! We really ARE in the same boat! I am pear shaped, too. I've always read that it is harder for pears to lose weight than apples, but our extra weight is not so unhealthy.

    I am actually from Oklahoma originally, but met my husband while we were both at OSU. We married in 1991, and so I've been a transplant in SW Missouri since then.

    It is bitterly cold here, and while we didn't get much snow, I am sure the school administration called off school because of the 15 below wind chills. Our kids in the area just do not have the cold weather gear that they need if a bus has an accident. And many kids still walk to school. Parents do not always make wise choices when letting their kids walk out the door unprepared for the weather. The news talked about a 7 year old who left for school yesterday (walking, of course) when school was actually canceled! The mom was worried about her, but where was she at 7:30 when the kid walked out the door????

    Anyway, I'm sure the snow is beautiful where you are. It just makes it hard on my family as we have livestock to take care of.

    I love to cook so I like to make lots of different meals. I am doing like 3 crock pot meals this week but hey it keeps DH and the kiddos happy! I too eat a lot of repeats of things but mostly for lunch.

    I like your cheat meals.. I dont do wine though but LOVE the dark chocolate! We are neighbors because I live in Windsor! well actually north of town closer to Timnath.

    I really hope no one you know was involved in the shooting in Tucson. Its such a tragic thing in so many ways.

    Thanks for the comment on my blog. Did you see my work outs? Thats how I can eat molten lava cakes, chili, and mexican and lose! ;-) just kidding. I like to allow myself a 300 calorie cheat food (molten lava cake - 249) Chili- was 350 a bowl and that was dinner..and mexican food well I tried to be good and shared with my two boys my chicken and grilled veggies. I skipped the sour cream, cheese, quacamole, and beans, but did have a little spanish rice.
