Last year I lost weight mostly by being careful about what I ate, especially once I discovered the 5:2 Fast Diet. I discovered that I really, really enjoy fasting!

As with life, I take a logical, proactive approach to my health; I've never been one to become overly emotional about things (with the exception of certain films and wildlife documentaries).

The way I look at life is that if there is a problem, then find a solution... don't whine about it!

If we want something badly enough, we'll always find a way; if all we can do is complain, and cry unfairness, we're not not committed to making a change. Life can seem unfair but it's up to us to make the most of what we have at our disposal, and live the best life we can, right? It's a waste to sit around whining!

Last year, exercise was difficult because of several injuries - I really don't recommend falling part-way down a mountain in order to get a wake-up call - but I persevered with diet, and it's now second nature. I'm actually quite proud of the fact that I have no problem fasting while I'm developing, cooking, and writing about recipes. Go my inherent stubbornness!

June 2016:
It's been just over a year and a half since falling down that mountain, and although I am not 100%, I am pretty much recovered, which means...

... it's time for some thrilling heroics.

I'm a writer, which enables me to live all over the world, wherever I choose.

I generally change countries three times a year but if I fall in love with a place, I'll return.

As of June 2016, I'm living in Serbia's capital city - Belgrade.

To date, I've lived in 49 places around the world in 52 years. I've travelled all of my life, and have never lived anywhere longer than five years. I'm not ready to settle down yet!

    I did see the 'trust me' episode with meal times. I am a bit of a night nibbler at times I am afraid, so don't find it easy. Plus some nights i don't get back to even start my evening meal until about 7pm and haven't had time for anything through the day. Good for a fast day, but not so good for any other one!
    We are off into Wakefield for an 'Heritage pub crawl' Ha ha! doing the Hepworth gallery and the new museum (only a small one sadly) and the 'historical hostelries' of the area... ha ha!! Have a good wekend! emoticon

    Thanks for your post and great to have you as team leader!! I am NOT going away in my break, unless I come into money. I can barely afford to stay at home! LOL. But hopefully we will get a travel ticket or two and do a bit of bus hopping, do some local walking and maybe a couple of pub lunch days and odd ride out in the old jalopy! I am a girl of simple needs LOL! .

    Hiya, I am not a follower of diet fads either, I only do them as a change now and then to shake things up and add a short term fresh challenge. This trial has taught me not to try so hard to cut saturated fat so much out of my personal plan. I do have more energy at the moment, could be anything really causing that, but I will keep it mind after I stop doing it next week, and will keep some of the things in place for now such as real butter, yogurt and milk (in strict moderation) and having more eggs. Grains will make a welcome return, but bread rationed to 2 slices a day ,,, because with real butter, that would be a TERMINAL disaster!!!! ha ha!

    Hi Gok! I would love to see your creations, but the link wasn't there, please PM me it. I don't have a dance partner either. DH says he would like to learn, but I highly doubt him doing it! I am going backto the place we saw the lessons being given and have a bash n a couple of weeks. Just a shame you won't be there.
