(Update 1/16/12016 two years from my last update and I've done nothing towards improving my health and body. I am more depressed than ever and have hit my highest weight ever of 324 lbs. Spark People have helped me before so I am back once again. I've also added a nutritionist to my mix named Amy. She seems like she will be very motivating. I joined the local YMCA, bought me a cane so I can walk farther distances and will be joining something called MOVE which is a program for veterans struggling with their weight. Today is the first day of heading toward my goals.

(Update: May 26, 2014. At this point I have undone all the work I had done and am beginning again. The pictures posted prior to this date are from my original journey. Today I undo the damage I have done by putting all this weight back on. Today I un-fail.)

I'm in my mid-50's and have gone beyond that 300# mark. So I am Fat and Freaking out about it. My goals are to reduce the stress in my life, reduce the calories I consume and for once in my life, consistantly put ME first.

Fitness Minutes: 14,837

My Goals:
Get back under 300 lbs by the end of the month.

Lose 2 lbs per week for 3 months.

Start walking outside

Evaluated goals and set new ones

My first goal is to actually fit into/on all of the circuit machines at Gold's Gym. My hips are just a little bit too wide for some of them.

My second goal is to gain some of my energy back. The last 20 lb gain stole it from me. (edit note 10/30/11: GOAL ACHEIVED! I have tons of energy now to play with my grandchildren and have been having so much fun doing so many new things!)

My third goal is to walk 3 miles in 45 minutes. I could do that once upon a time.

My ultimate goal is to lose about 145 pounds starting with the first being met by November.

My Program:
I joined a gym with some of the ladies from work. I don't really like to work out with anyone. It distracts me too much, but it is nice having several people being accountable to.
(edit note:10/30/11: Remember those gals at work that I joined the gym with? Well out of the 5 of us, I am the only one still going and the only one not stuffing my face at work. I am SO GLAD that I like to work out by myself!)
Hanging out here is also helping me gain focus. There is so much support and good advice that it is hard to push away the computer and get things done sometimes.

I've really been keeping track of my food intake. I am using several sources for food tracking. The one I like a lot is because it has a bar code scanner feature. You just scan the barcode of the product you are eating and it puts all the nutrition info into the program. I wish I could find one program that does that plus has a great exercise section too. Personal Information:
I am from SE Wisconsin. By profession I am a nurse. I have 2 adult children and their spouses as well as 10 grandchildren. (edit note 10/30/11: I had forgot to mention that I am an US Army veteran and was a flight medic back in the 70's. How could I have forgotten that!)

One of my favorite things to do is read my Kindle on a beautiful day at the beach. I am hoping to be able to say one day "my favorite thing to do is to go work out at the Gym". I am learning to take more ME time.

Other Information:
My favorite authors are Dean Koontz and Fern Michaels. I enjoy reading anything from mysteries/suspense to trashy love stories but my favorites are the time travel romance books.

I'm addicted to Big Fish Games and buy them like some people buy cigarettes!
