I've dealt with being overweight since I was six years old. I've been on tons of diets, and even successfully reached a healthy weight - that was over 11 years ago. I lost 86 pounds through eating healthy and exercising (running, cross-training, weight training) on nearly a daily basis. When I reached my goal, I weighed 140 pounds, and had only 15% body fat.

I started my journey all over again in June, 2008, this time with SparkPeople, weighing the most I've ever weighed in my life. I wasn't very motivated in the beginning, but as I started to feel better from eating healthier and working out at the gym, that began to change, I've become an active participant on several Spark Teams, and even led our Done Being the Fat Girl Sage Team to a Biggest Loser Challenge victory two times in a row. SparkPeople has helped me believe in my ability to make make these healthy lifestyle changes permanent. I intend to reach my goal weight in 2009 and say goodbye to those unwanted pounds for good!!!

Some of my favorite quotes:

"Everyone is an athlete. The only difference is that some of us are in training, and some are not."
~ Dr. George Sheehan

"Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be."
~ Dr. George Sheehan

"Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character."
~T. Alan Armstrong, author

"Champions aren't made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them - a desire, a dream, a vision."
~Muhammad Ali

"Anything is possible, but you have to believe and you have to fight."
~Lance Armstrong

"Don't be afraid of the space between your dreams and reality. If you can dream it, you can make it so."
~Belva Davis, broadcast journalist

"A true runner has the heart and the soul which does not have to be proved to anyone else but oneself."

"Running is the greatest metaphor for life, because you get out of it what you put into it."
-Oprah Winfrey

"A marathon is like life with its ups and downs, but once you've done it you feel that you can do anything."

"If you want to win something, run 100 meters.
If you want to experience something, run a marathon."
~Emil Zátopek, 1952 Olympic gold medalist in 5,000m, 10,000m & marathon events

"We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us."
~E. M. F.

"If you ever get a second chance in life for something, you've got to go all the way."
-Lance Armstrong

"Anybody can do just about anything with himself that he really wants to and makes his mind to do. We are capable of greater than we realize."
- Norman Vincent Peale, author

"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever."
~Lance Armstrong

"Running is a big question mark that's there each and every day. It asks you, 'Are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?'"
~Peter Maher, Irish-Canadian Olympian and Sub-2:12 marathoner

As we run, we become.
~Amby Burfoot, The Runner's Guide to the Meaning of Life

What distinguishes those of us at the starting line from those of us on the couch is that we learn through running to take what the day gives us, what our body will allow us, and what our will can tolerate.
~John Bingham, running writer and speaker

If you run, you are a runner. It doesn't matter how fast or how far. It doesn't matter if today is your first day or if you've been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run.
~John Bingham, running writer and speaker

Nike Running Quotes:
"If you went running when you first started thinking about it, you'd be back by now."

"Others aren't staring at you. They're thinking how they should be running, too."

"Someone who is busier than you is running right now."

"The road to hell is paved with couches."

"It's easier to sleep than run. That's why sleeping isn't an Olympic sport."
